SG1 and Atlantis new cast members
Falcon1
Elite Ranger
in Zocalo v2.0
I take it most of you have seen the new additions to the casts of both SG1 and Atlantis, for seasons 9 and 2 respectively...
For those who haven't and don't want to know don't read on...

Anderson is being replaced by Beau Bridges who will take over O'Neills role commanding the SGC (as Gen Hank Landry), while Jack becomes Head of Homeland Security. Louis Gossett Jr is joining the cast as a Jaffa opposing T'ealc as the leader of the new Jaffa nation. Ben Prowder will also be joining the cast but there's nothing on his role yet.
With Atlantis, Mitch Pileggi (aka Assisstant Director Skinner from the X-Files) will be taking on the role of a colonel.
Have to say these are interesting choices. Not so sure about Beau Bridges, will be interesting to see how his charactor developes. With L Gossett Jr I just keep thinking Iron Eagle :D I think its great Ben Prowder's joining the cast. Though he can't be as scarcastic and quick witted as he was in Farscape.

theres a bit of info on the character Browder is playing, one Lt Col Cameron Mitchell
Louis Gosset Jr.?!?! Isnt his career dead?
what the hell?
Mitch Pileggi on Atlantis though would be cool, maybe they could even get rid of Wier, I really hate her.
It'll be pritty weird to see both Ben Browder and Claudia Black in the same series outside of farscape.

Yeah, thats why he's in what is likely to be the end of the series. I can't see this show surviving much longer with so many changes. IS RDA still in season 9 at all?
im not sure, but i think there could be potential for SG1 to run on for a while longer. a bit of new blood certainly spices things up, tho granted theres going to be a little more than a 'bit' of new blood. i think its survivable as long as the writers can keep turning out good strong stories and not allow it to become stagnant
Worf
It was written as a series end, and while it will allow undisclosed story threads to continue, it may really upset the balance between plot development and, well, being badass, that SG-1 has somehow settled on for so many years.
Spoiler: Gateworld.net has reported that S8 will incorporate a major plot thread about the ancients, specifically what they were about, where they came from, etc. It will also introduce a new enemy, one far more powerful than the pesky little bellysnakes could ever hope to be. Now, the problem is, this stated that they'd *Introduce* a new enemy, not build on an old one (i.e. replicators), so I'm worried about how this will be handled. I love Browder and co, but this ain't farscape, and he may not be able to take up the slack from O'Neill in a way that won't steal from his previous character, John Crichton.
whats wrong with Wier? i think shes great.......and kinda cute as well;) :D
weir is the reason I stopped watching SG:A after three episodes. I wanted to her charachtor to get shot from day 1.

*smacks A#*
:alndance:
i think her acting has gotten better towards the end of the season, but then so has everyones as they get more settled into their roles. come on, some of the acting at the start of SG1 was pretty bad. i hated general hammond in season 1, but by season 3 or so i thought he was great. just give it time, first seasons are never as good as the later ones.
*Picks up his stuffed trout*
so just turn on closed captions and mute the TV. Hell, I keep captioning on all the time. This way you don't have to listen, and you can still watch decent (read: not Enterprise) Scifi TV.
And you can talk about the episode while you are watching it!! (Without getting completely lost)
