Moments of clarity...

JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
You ever have one of those moments when your mind can extend beyond one thing at a time? A point of focus where you can be one with many things at once.

I had one of those today. For what purpose I cannot say, but I was on the deck today just enjoying the breeze and the sunshine, and when I looked at a nearby tree, I knew in my mind the exact location of all the leaves at once, even as they swayed in the wind.

It's like knowing the point positions of hundreds of points in 3D space all at the same time.

Stunning...

(yeah, I'm sure you think I'm crazy... but I'll get over it...)

  • I guess I've had something similiar.

It was when I realized I was alive.

& heh well ya already ya know the other stuff. When that happened I felt sorta the exact opposite like everyone & everything else knew where I was. :D

To this day I still have a feeling that my existence was leaked. I still run into random people who say oh its him . Bizaar who the hell am I? Im not even talking local either, this was in London also.

I got those moments at times too. Usually i'm covered in blood and i'm smiling a lot. And there's people screaming and running and I start to laugh cuz it looks so funny.

Then i wake up, and it's sad.

  • Yes, I experience that relatively often. Generally I'll be running on autopilot, at school or somewhere public, and suddenly it'll occur to me, woah, this is real!

That's OK. You'll soon discover that the markers don't have a clue either.

Yeah, I do, that's when she says "What, that's it? What about me?"
  • I always thought it was a chemical from years ago being released from fat cells givin a temporary flashback/goodfeeling.

JackN, I understand. Sometimes, very rare, there are times when I catch a glimpse of the truth behind a reality, and feeling perfectly content in the moment, like "Yeah, it makes sense."

Then it goes away, and the loss is pretty strong, but the memory is like a reverse-hangover, a lingering good feeling from the aftershock.
  • I don’t think I’ve ever had a “Yea it makes sense” moment. More often it’s a “There’s so much I don’t know and can’t perceive” kind of moment.

Sitting quietly staring into someone’s eyes, or standing in the woods in a snowstorm tend to result in those half euphoric half scary moments.

The only way I can describe it is I feel -

Like a point of light pushing into another unseen plane.
Like everything around me is one but individual too.
Like everything around me has so much more to it than can possibly be understood.

It's those moments where I "believe" for lack of a better word. Believe in myself first, and the struggle to understand that is going on around me.

Seeing the sunrise at 11,000m above sea level certainly gave me a "wow, everything's so unimportant" feeling.
  • croxiscroxis I am the walrus
When I was in 6th grade riding in the car with mom driving (i even know the exact spot where this happen) I was day dreaming as usual. For one instant, I understood the full scope of the universe and how small I am compared to it. The it vanished.
  • That's interesting - I've had that "everything is so unimportant feeling" too. However, recently my perspective has changed to "Everything is SO important."
  • JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
I guess for me it's a volumetric awareness level that I rarely operate at.

It's an ability to FOCUS on many things at once, like multitasking.

It's a freakin tease too, because I doubt I could stay at that level for too long. So, it's like the universe/god saying

"yeah, you can do it, but you ain't ready for it yet". It's these times that tell me the human brain is capable of sooo much more.

If I could learn to switch in and out of it at will, and use it for constructive purposes...

maybe someday... (probably just before it's my natural time to go too...)
  • BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I more meant "unimportant" as in "we're so small in the scale of the universe." In terms of importance in existing, I think everything ranks up quite high. :)

I was about to write a long reply, but got tired so here's the short version.

I also get the "small in the universe" feeling.
