  • Re: what ship is that?

Looks like a part of an Explorer class starship to me.

hm but its not a debris i think... still has working position lights and all that. and it does not moove like the rest debris..
and it makes no sence that the ea will put these big , almost unarmed targets into the battle..

That's from Warzone. The Explorer was indeed fully functional, and was then under captain Gideon's command. It had just arrived at the site of the battle, after it was over. Though they had been recalled for the battle. I guess they were thinking that when Earth is in danger of becoming debris every ship, even the ones that don't have the best weapons, should be there to defend it.
  • I always thought the Explorere Ship was made too look harmless, soo big and slow with the orange and yellow color scheme like a big target

I have always seen it from the perspective (that I believe Ron was using as inspiration) of a massive Foss style ship. Indeed the Front end of the OCD has similar primitives that Foss used for large vessels and structures.

I am still happy though that B5 took on it's own unique look and feel that it ended with. Especially the use of color. Space was sterile and boring for the most part for me in SciFi until B5 came along.

Even Star Trek just didn't get on the bandwagon till much later. I know story wise many people here had issue with Voyager, but god the effects they were turning out were just stunning...

    :)

B5 for me via Lightwave, was/is the epitamy of what I would expect in space and design.
  • Well unfortunatly I don't have crusade yet, but from close analsis of the image, I really can't tell what the frell it is.

It does have the exact stylings of a Explorer, but looks like it is flying upside down. Then there is three things I've noticed from the picture:
    1) No superstructrure behind the body
    2) No bloody bridge, except maybe 4 vewports in the front of the top cargo pods
    3) But the thing doesn't appear to be upside down, because the two lower hanger bays can be seen under the larger bay

So, from my probably ilrelevant conclusions:
    1) It's a differnt model of Explorer
    2) They just rendered it wrong
    3) I need to see the episode to get better conclusion

And just a side note, that's an awful big amount of Nova's just for one shot, pending how many survived?

The lack of superstructure doesn't stop it being the remains of an explorer ship. Given that the shot appears to be of a rather messy debris field, I would think it possible that it's the front section of an explorer ship that got destroyed. As for orientation, there's no up in space. :)
  • Ah frell, I was looking at this thing wrong. It IS an Explorer. I was thinking the ship was going from left to right, but it's actually going right to left. The picture does show the top of the ship, the superstructure is to the right of that section. And the gravity section is right behind the destroyed omega. She is quite live and moving from what I can tell in that picture.
Also why would an Starfury(Aurora or Thunderbolt, can't tell) be flying escort in line with a dead ship? (Look above the dead Omega in the lower right corner, the 3 blue lights)

Elec and David are correct. It is an explorer, and it is quite alive. Dead ships don't have active lighting :p
