Remember these models were produced for 1998-99 grade graphics. If they
look a little too angular, it's because we could only afford so much detail
or the Pentium-2s and 3s we were designing it to work on would choke on the
combat scenes. Everything was on a strict polygon budget. Foundation or
Netter could afford to suck down the clock cycles for a really spiffy model.
We had to render in real-time.
As it was, the game was choking on the detail needed to create a functioning
Omega Destoryer. The rotating section and all those little turrets were a
huge pain.

Similar concept to the Drakh coated raider (Zepher) ship.
Black Dog was going to be a traitor or something to that effect who had a Thunderbolt with Shadow coating. He was going to be one of those bad boys you come up against in the game.
*sigh*
Ah yes... Black Dog...
Similar concept to the Drakh coated raider (Zepher) ship.

Any chance that you can tell a bit more about it?

sorry to tantalization you so far with all my questions and screenshot postings ;)
Read the Officer's Journal, Alpha-1. It's all in there.
Yeah I'd suggest that also as the author of that had very good insights as to the story of ITF.
;)
Read the Officer's Journal, Alpha-1. It's all in there. The link is below, where it's always been, and also on the front page.
i did...long time ago...
Thought I recognised the Blackdog from the Officers Journal. Shame the author hasn't posted for a while ;)

BAYLON 6?! Was this from a book, or just a brainchild of his? Or is it a taste of things to come?
Thats Jack's web site. Who knows if its related to ItF or not.
Jack knows ;)
heh heh
No... Babylon 6 is NOT related to ITF in any way shape or form. ;)
Babylon 6 was a contest entry I was working on several years ago at B5MG (which is now Beyond Babylon).
There were many entries made, alas, I never finished mine in time because I was working long hours at Foundation Imaging at the time and could not get enough time on it.
The contest idea was to build the next Babylon Station if the ISA failed to be victorious in the Shadow War.
I postulated my station coming about as an extension of Clarke's reign and the agreements made by Psi Corp and the EA for Shadow Tech. It is more of a Battle Station than a peaceful station.
It is mobile (local movement as well as jump engines), shielded, has an advanced primary weapon that can kill a planet as well as large spaceships. The secondary weapons are formidable as well. I left the rotating sections in the design (to be like Babylon 4) because I wanted a split personality for the station. Human domains as well as Shadow domains. The Shadows would have ultimate control over weapons and Jump travel. So the shadow portions of the station are really more or less off limits to humans. Human targets and agendas are accomodated as long as it is within the Shadows interests to do so.
I had also planned on making a Drakh version, but I doubt I'll ever get around to making that any time soon. Hard enough to finish this one.
I had also thought about extending the Shadows reach all the way to Earth, and showing the change (in a similar way that I had seen a painting of New York after the Borg reached Earth in the Start Trek universe).
So, no, not Canon, not part of ITF... ;)
I also like the model too. I know it was created for a contest but it still would have been good to see it in action :)
Worf
Fantastic idea!
