PJHPJH The Lovely Thing
Yup, what's the best one in your opinion? One which can handle pretty much all file types etc. :)

Hehe... thanks.

I've tried Nero earlier, but I had some trouble with it and uninstalled it. I guess it's time to give a newer version a try. :)

• Yeah nero is good or you can just use the built in burning system if you want to go that way. IF you have ISO or images you want to burn use Alcohol %120.

Try a blow torch ;)

Seriously though, Nero works well for me. I also have Adaptec/Roxio - poor substitute for Nero, but it can burn stuff.

I use Nero. It works well. I really recommend against the winxp built in burning stuff. It sucks.
• I use Nero Express with no problems , Built in windows burning I never had any problems with ether.

I use a combination of Nero and Roxio, although Nero has as of the past few months, even after numerous formats, doesn't like any of my burners. Poop.

Nero... without Express.

I don't like "dumbed down" feature sets.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?

I use Nero for just about everything, Alcohol 120% for ISO's,

but at the moment, i've also got to use MyDVD which i HATE, because its the only one currently "officially" supported for buring .tivo files to DVD.

that should change shortly tho.

I had the same problems for a while till I downloaded the latest drivers for the burner. Also make sure the buffer underrun protection is on.
• My Nero Express might be dumbed down but it was free with the burner. Notin dumb about free.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Yeah, mine's the free Nero Express that came with my burner, too. It does the job, I don't burn stuff that often.

What's the difference between the WinXP stuff and a third party solution for burning CDs? With the built in stuff, all I have to do is drag files onto the disk and click "burn." What more is there?

My new burner came with Nero, but except for the lack of built-in DVD burning, I can't really think of any reason to install it. Then again, I don't know anything about it. Well, I used it a few times on my mom's computer but nothing too intensive.

The only other 3rd party burning software I ever used came from Sonic, and it had drag and drop functionality for DVD burning. It was very convenient.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
You can't burn disc images, and it's a pain int he ass to make hybrid audio/data CDs using the integrated tool. It's also really freakin' slow, as it has to manufacture a compiled image before burning begins (yet It still can't burn user-supplied images)
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
The WinXP stuff is horrible and slow. Sure, it's convenient to be able to just drop files onto the CD, but the convenience is dramatically reduced when you have to then wait an hour for it to slowly grind through making an image and burning it.

Full version of Nero came with my burner, though it is supposedly locked to the burner so it can't be used on other computers.

I find I use Nero Express for simple burns (data backups and such) and Nero for more complicated burns and DVD burns. Works well, though sometimes I can't find the settings I want easily.

My parents' burner came with the full version, but it is locked to their burner.
