Wireless Headphones

Hmm in the course of running I have found that having a distraction other than my imagination helps me run the longer distances. I've been thinking about wireless headphones & I've heard they can be pricey anywhere from $100 - $200 but really I intend on using them longterm. Im only looking for an earplug type that connects to your cd/mp3 player. Anyone know of a decent one?

I did some very brief research on this topic a year or so ago when I was trying to find some nice new headphones. About the only thing I can remember is that infrared ones are better because they suffer interference less. If you're trying to find ones that will be taken running with you then obviously infrared won't be your first choice. :)

Let me say, as the owner of a pair of infrared headphones,

    No.

    Just don't. It's a waste.

And if you mean you want wireless *earbud* headphones, then I think you're not likely to find anything, and may be better with the incredibly perfect (for the price) Grado SR-60's.

Well, that shows how out-of-date my research is. :D
  • I have a pair of (somewhat old) infrared ones. Direct line of sight is required, and when battery levels drop (or distances rise) they introduce a fair degree of noise.

I would visit a shop where I can ask the salesperson to permit me to check their range/quality in practice.

you could also think a little outside the square and do what my brother does, albiet at work whilst no sweating buckets... he puts his weeny little Mp3 player in his hat, and the cord is neatly coiled in the hat, only the actual earphone cables run into his ears. Perhaps a sweatband or something if you cant see yourself running in a baseball cap or something ?
  • @Sanfam those SR60s are great! But not for running. :D

Infared is not gonna be good at 7 mph.

Might go with your suggestion SB, Baseball cap might be a little weak I need something covering my ears anyway with this temperature. Should get gloves too. Those seem to be the most vulnerable areas to cold. The rest of my body generates enough heat to make an atomic explosion seem like antartica. Just last night after doing a 8 mph sprint for 5 mins I didn't even feel the wind. Put some ice on & it melted right off the skin except the damn ears were stinging & the fingers were purple.
  • Why do you need wireless?
  • The wired ones have not stayed in on the cd player when I move. Besides that I would like a pair of wireless headphones even I have to spend the extra cash.
  • You mean the cord comes unplugged? Maybe I'm just short, but every set of headphones I've ever used have had ample cord for running.
  • Oh yeah theres enough cord but Im still running pretty hard it ends up pulling out the cable or nearly. IF I do want to keep it in I've had to tape it & thats still not to reliable. :/
  • That's really weird. It actually takes a bit of effort to remove the headphones from my mp3 player... but then again, they're Sennheiser earbuds. :p

Have you considered maybe getting another Player? :D I've never had that happen. Sounds like it's not well designed :D
  • Man, that line in is LOOSE. BONG!
