    Hey there was even an article in Newsweek this week about Firefox, mainly concerning how this open source product could be a real threat to microsoft, since they so tigtly integrated IE with there Op system. The biggest issue is that since they were able to religate Netscape to a has been, they've neglected to further improve IE.

    Yes it is, and the "point" of my pointless message was that double [url]http://http://[/url] in address.
    If you type anything after that, it will redirect to Microsofts site.. Somehow google has something to do with it.

    It does happen if I use Firefox, so it isn't an operating system issue.

    Firefox rocks, but Safari is for the most part great, and it's my default browser. It's based in an open source browser (whose name I can't remember), so there might be a Windows equivalent.

    But I do use Firefox sometimes.

    sinclair: In firefox I just get the standard "request url not found" error dialog, but I think that's because my university's proxy is filtering the extra : out. If you end up at MS's site, it's because firefox searches for anything that isn't a valid address at Google and returns the "I'm feeling lucky" result.
    In IE, if I tried, it would redirect me to MSN by default but that's because MS always defaults IE to search for not found URLs at MSN search. This is why they kept claiming to be the top search engine. Most people when actually searching went elsewhere, but whenever someone typed in a malformed or nonexistant url, it would go to MSN.

    Safari is based on the KHTML part, which uses Gecko for rendering. Konqueror is built around the KHTML part.

    Firefox. I don't really like the KDE and Gnome solutions. Plus this way I get consistency between my Linux and Windows computers.
