This unit I just got as a gift has been true to it's word about the hour length using an Alkaline AAA and continuous play (with minimal menu display and activity LED useage). I average around 8-10 hours before the battery gets too low to go on...
As for Rechargeables, well as Random CHaos has already explained quite well, it's the type of rechageable that you use that makes the difference.

true. i was just using new batteries. coulda got some rechargeables, but that woulda been a good idea wouldnt it.........:p

I used NiMH in my player, and as I mentioned earlier didn't see any significant drop in battery life.

ive no idea what type it is. got it off ebay well cheap, so its probably a cheap knock off. uses a single AA battery.
doesnt bother me really anymore, cos ive got an iPod now, as well as a 256mb memory stick

was faster than digging through my image archive, however I DO have some nice shots from Nova Scotia in wallpaper res... :D
