Best videoplayer?

PJHPJH The Lovely Thing
What's the best player for Windows out there to watch videos? One that could play pretty much everything and has all the codecs you will ever need. I've had enough of these crappy players I currently have. Always giving me can't play this can't play that... no codec available.... blah blah.... grrr....

I use Zoom Player. It's easily the best player I've seen for windows. It's a directshow-based player, which means if a codec is on your system it can use it. The only thing I don't watch in it is DVDs.

Oh yeah... where could I get conviniently all the codecs I need without downloading and installing all of them separately? :)

Ahh.... looks like it has the most common ones already included.

For some reason my ZoomPlayer won't play divx right :( It also has a hissy fit over .mov, but I'm fine with quicktime for that.

PJH: I generally just grab them as I need them, and over time I accumulate all the ones I need.

Phi: Try reinstalling the codec in question. Usually its the codec causing the problem, not zoom player.
  • I really like BSPlayer :)

If some video doesn't work just use GSpot to detect codec it needs and then search in Google using codec's 4CC name.
