You do get a sense of what it was like reading that, but not what it was really like, Remember all the waiting, and then how excited we'd all get when there was good news, and how bad it was when it all went south again.
I can understand what you all went through. And I do know the history of this site.
But allow me to remind you all that JMS cannot respond to this without looking like he's purposefully interferring, which would put him in a spot and weaken his position to help the cast. This was orchestrated to accomplish just that. Remember that this has reached the NG's and that JMS is not denying it, which he clearly would if it were some wild rumor...and that alone is very telling.
The news broke at JMSNews because that's where Jan decided to first let folks in on what she'd heard and where I posted my confirmation from my source for the first time...therefore, it became the nexus.
Those who broke the news are of the most respected in the B5 community and would never have broken something that they felt wasn't true...that means Jan (who's integrity is unquestionable), Amy (ditto...hello, she's Amy) and well me...and believe me I would never have said something if I wasn't certain of it...especially something like this. I am, myself, a filmmaker. I know this business and how it works.
Your fight was against more than a film, it was against a gaming company and a studio with the rights to the topic. This is a different kind of fight.
Tim Fleming, the man who so boldly struggled and fought to save CRUSADE...more than anyone I'd say...has joined in this fight...and he lost a lot of hope when CRUSADE finally fell.
But, now, with this film, he might get the biggest part of that story. Now if this film is a success, you might get that game...or a new one bigger and better with the newest tech incorporated.
But if this cast is replaced, then everyone looses. You have to realize that...right?
NTM, I wouldn't take up so much of what precious time I have in updating my film company's site repeatedly, and joining and posting in more forums than I've been in in my life. This isn't exactly how I would prefer to spend my time, especially when my own film's deadline is fast approaching and my time for it is being spent to fight for this since I believe in it so deeply.
In short, those who both broke and confirmed this story are not internet ego-types looking for self-agrandizement, we're profoundly feeling B5 fans first, who've been around for some time, and have a lot of respect around the forums.
Would I be repeatedly pleading with all of you to join the fight, if I didn't believe it were true so deeply?
I can't tell you why exactly I know this to be true (I cannot reveal my industry source,)...and we are still trying to get our hands on the casting sheets...but believe me...I beg you all...this is true. We have to speak up.
Go and check my news page on my site and read my letter to WB. That is how you write to them...with positives which could never harm the production but only serve to strenghen it...no matter the validity of this story.
But trust me...though you have no reason to...this story is valid.
JMS is not denying it and it has hit the NG's where he's active. JMS cannot speak to it without harming himself and the cast he's fighting for.
We, the fans, must put aside old fights (and believe me..I fought hard for CRUSADE, myself) and pick up the mantle of the new fights.
Did Sheridan and Delenn just turn away after the Shadow War and say..."Agh! When Londo comes out and says there's such a thing as Drakh running his world, we'll believe it then."? No...they fought because it was right.
This is the right thing to do. I hope you will join the thousands of fans already out there who are writing letters and speaking out across the internet. I hope you will go to the WB boards and let them know you want to keep your cast. I hope you will go to the four corners of the net and speak out as so many of us are.
I hope and I believe...because, well...Faith Manages.

I think you have a very strong point there. And given Doyle's comments last year I'm inclined to think that they got contracts before there was a script. I seem to remember one of JMS's posts talking about trying to get deals done long before the script was finished.
I only make conjecture that the contracts are signed due to the evidence I recall, but if they are signed then they are binding and I do not think WB can change them, apart from my comments about intelligence in the other Save the cast thread.

As i said in the other post, if this is the big "Recast" thats got everyone's panties in a bunch, then i really don't see that its that big a deal.
And its exactly why we can't go flying off the handle at the first rumor of something we don't like.
and IF this is the big recast, i think it proves my point about "inside contacts" and how valid information can be distorted, in this case, if this holds true, than the insiders information was correct one of the characters was being recast, but it wasn't the huge big deal we were all lead to believe, that the main cast from b5 was being replaced.
If its Galen thats being recast, there could be a reason other than WB "Screwing us fans over" like perhaps Woodward said he didn't want to do it, or was busy with another project, in which case, a letter writing campaign would be nothing more than an annoyance to WB.
Again as i said before, this is exactly why we can't go off half cocked.
JackN
That Samual L. Jackson as John Sheridan is hillarious!!!
I am torn on this cast issue. Should we tell WB how to make movies and where to spend their millions? If we do all this and it flops because it turns out to be a sci-fi drama with little or no action and a bunch of actors just doing dialog like the movie Solaris with George Cloony, I will feel very guilty. But then if it turns out to be an indpendance day type movie with allot allot of action then I woud be very happy. The problem is you really don't know what the plot is or how it is applied in the B5 universe. I honestly believe all we know now are just cover stories to hide the true plot of the movie.
It's not just Galen...casting descriptions were sent out to agents to replace Sheridan, Delenn and Lochley...at least those three.
Also, notice these little leaks don't contain any info on the main original cast or their roles in the film.
The sources have stated that that is planned in order to build acceptance of the film without the cast in that initial acceptance.
Notice that NONE of the "leaks" (there's no such think in Hollywood, they're all planned), contain any mention of the main cast except Lochley.
Word also has it according to Peter Woodward's site that he will be in the midst of shooting his own feature film script at the same time TMoS is being shot...with Sir Richard Attenborough directing. If this is the case, then I could accept that he was recast.
As a filmmaker, I'd prefer to be on set with Sir Richard anyday...since the man's a genius.
But rest assured that the recasting issue does stretch beyond Galen. Notice again, that the careful wording is that Galen is the one that is being recast...why? Because, since he's the smaller character in their minds from the spin-off, then leaking his recasting is a way to kill several birds with one stone. Leak a recasting idea, back JMS into a corner so he can't complain, and then get the audience used to the idea slowly so they can win.
This is how I was told it was being played and by golly if it ain't going down just the way I was told it would.
This is pure Hollywood politics...and good politics as well. I must say, WB and TPTB are orchestrating this very well. And all in a way that JMS is powerless to respond.

No, you took a rumor and started jumping to conclusions. So far you've mentioned that you had a source but not once did you clearly identify this source. Matter of fact, you have yet to provide any kind of real supporting evidence of any kind. You just took the aforementioned rumor and went off on a tangent making shit up.
See folks, this is exactly why you shouldn't act before you know the facts.
Read it and weep colonyearth. You are WRONG. Going off on a crusade against WB on an unfounded assumption could've cost us this movie. Next time, wait for ACTUAL confirmation before shooting your mouth off and getting your knickers in a knot, mmk?
Please take time to read the original thread over at JMSNews before you jump me.
I am not an internet junky or meglomaniac. I don't care of you like me or not...just trust me...this is a problem.
And I cannot name my source. Understand this...people who leak info cannot be named or their frelling job is at risk. You do understand that...right?
I am not the only source for this. Again, go read the original thread over at JMSNews. Jan (an old-timer from the beginning, who's spoken with JMS personally on many an occasion and who would NEVER rock the boat or call for fan reaction without definate facts) has confirmed this as well. I only checked with my source after she spoke out.
Sit on your heals...and apoligize all you want if I'm right, but realise that if I'm right, and you don't act, and this cast is replaced, then it will be too late for your apology.
Then you will need to apologize to the cast and JMS for not standing with them.
Nobody is being replaced you nit! (Other than the Galen character, which could easily be explained later.) Did you not even READ the damn thread I linked to? Unless you're qoing to question Pat's competence..... All they're doing is bringing in new characters (other than Lochley and Galen), which is not a bad thing IMO. I didn't see you complaining about it when Legend of the Rangers was still in the works.
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Vert, calm down and stop with the personal attacks and rudeness. Your behaviour in this matter disgusts me and gives people a poor impression of the members of firstones.com. I expect your behaviour on these forums to improve.
There has been no absolute proof either way yet. Just because Pat is saying "mostly new cast" that isn't proof of no recasting of existing characters. If you don't want to join in a letter writing campaign or whatever, then don't. Running around swearing at people doing so isn't going to convince them that what they think is wrong.
Thank you, Biggles, for the kindness. Unfortunately, my opinion of firstones.com has already been lowered, sadly.
Please read my thoughts in the other thread...I am not accustomed to being treated by fellow fans as some problem starter or fraud. I've been around for a while, and Jan since the beginning. I am frankly offended...and surprised by such a reaction without investigation of what others are saying or doing. Write or don't...I have other people to reach and more work to do. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't know for certain what was happening. I, frankly, have other responsibilities, including my own film, calling.
I'm done here, I will go where I can still make a difference now.

Sit on your heals...and apoligize all you want if I'm right, but realise that if I'm right, and you don't act, and this cast is replaced, then it will be too late for your apology.
Then you will need to apologize to the cast and JMS for not standing with them.

Oh, and Darkhorizons has now reported the problem.
As I said in the other thread, I am both disappointed and dismayed.:(
There has been no absolute proof either way yet. Just because Pat is saying "mostly new cast" that isn't proof of no recasting of existing characters. If you don't want to join in a letter writing campaign or whatever, then don't. Running around swearing at people doing so isn't going to convince them that what they think is wrong.
