Dodged another one...

Wednesday morning I developed what has turned out to be Bell's Palsey. Most of the left side of my face is not working.

They thought at first I might have had a stroke, but this has only affected my lower left eyelid, Left Upper Lip muscle, and the taste sensations in my upper left mouth region. They say this will go away within a few weeks to months. They gave me a steroid and anti-viral prescription to combat the source.

Whew!

I can live with that! (no pun intended...)

Hmm, sounds delightful. At least your face didn't turn green and purple!

Doesn't sound too nice, but at least it's only temporary. Get well soon!

    Good luck for healing.

    These sudden troubles aren't nice.
On a fall lot of years ago (I was six at the time) I had not so nice suprise when I awakened in one day: Other leg wasn't able to take any weight and moving knee even little hurted damn much. Doctors didn't find anything and day later later I was able to walk again (but definitely not running to anywhere) and few days later there wasn't any traces of that.

ow..... I can imagine how shit scary that was... with no prior knowledge of bells palsy most people would say to themselves... "A STROKE ! OMG WTF IM SCREWED !"

It's also a bit scary to realise our whole face relies on two nerve cables running down our foreheads, break a connection in either and half your face shuts down.

    get better dude

My mother has had Bell's Palsey for over 40 years now, and it hasn't slowed her down a bit. It normally only shows up in some photographs (left bottom lip droops slightly) or when she's tired (left eye starts closing more than the right).

Other than symptoms like that, this shouldn't slow you down much.

    Best wishes.

Jack, what you need is a modded Statue of Liberty. Instead of a torch, she's wielding a baseball bat and yells "You want a peace of me?!". That outta keep ol' Bell at bay. :)

Yikes, that doesn't sound fun. At least it should be gone before too long....
