Worf
The kind of site that the teacher at my old school would give high marks to students for creating but he wouldn't do that for someone who tried to make a proper website *grumble*
Worf
I remember the good old days of 9th grade web design; I made a site with an animated .gif of Krusty the Klown juggling flaming somethings on a unicycle as the tiled background image.
Heh...
My high school got it's first internet connection the spring before my freshman year - 56k line via a grant from NIH. One of the first internet connections to a public grade school anywhere. It was 1994 when they got it. The school's server that used it was a VAX.
A year later at the end of my freshman year in spring 1995 they got a Linux server and gave all students e-mail and dial-in access (command line only) for Lynx use (for use of school only). We also got web space (I think it was something like 5MBs per person).
Less then a year after that I had written my first website (there were no classes on it) for a non-profit club I belonged to and hosted it on the school's website (since it was non-profit they didn't have a problem...were it profit it wasn't allowed).
They upgraded the summer after I graduated (1998) to a fiber optic connection - I believe it was the first one to a public grade school. They also got a new building with ethernet to every classroom and laptop-enabled work benches in the engineering and science rooms. Of course...by then I was gone.
