Source: Production Weekly December 8, 2004
Steven Beck will direct a big screen adaptation of the popular sci-fi TV series Babylon 5. The movie, titled The Memory of Shadows, is intended for theatrical release and was written by series creator J. Michael Straczynski. Production Weekly reports that the project starts filming this April in the UK.
In "Shadows," the technology of the ancient and extinct Shadow race is being unleashed upon the galaxy by an unknown force, and Earthforce intelligence officer Diane Baker, whose brother was recently killed in a mysterious explosion, it out to find out who is behind the intergalactic conspiracy.
Joining her is Galen, a techno-mage who has been charged with keeping the technology out of the hands of those who would abuse it.

hmm....IMDB just gives "Alma Mater"
Who's Steven Beck?
Looks like we're getting the Crusade story.

check IMDB...
only mentioned as an "associative producer" on "Alma Mater"
Hmmm... interesting. Having Galen in it would be very cool! I wonder how accurate this report is though? Just curious as JMS said nothing in his recent post... then again he probably couldn't.
All i know, is that i'm really excited about B5 again, and think its about time to start watching the series over.
the only problem is, once i get done watching them all, its like depressing, cause it was SO good, and its over.

Excellent. Everything is proceeding as I have forseen.

Thats cryptic... you have a crystal ball or something? :D
Oh yea, AWESOME news about our favorite show!
anyhoo.. WOOT!
It's probably a typo... Steve Beck, not Steven Beck, even though that Beck guy doesn't have an impressive CV either.
I agree that niether is thrilling me right now, although one has atleast directed something before. I have not seen 13 Ghosts, but Ghost Ship did not impress me at all.
Hopefully we will find out which one it is soon so we may scoure the net for anything else he may have doen that isn't on IMDB.

So, does someone else want to begin the traditional pointing out of recycled character elements, or shall I? ;)

The truth points to itself.
I wonder how long until the movie is released, of course I want to see it right now but I also think it would be better if they take their time, even if it means waiting 2-3 years.

I liked 13 ghosts. Not bad for a modern horror.

My bet is on Spring 2006, if they start shooting in April. They'll probably be finished with the shoot June/July, and that leaves plenty of time for post production. (It might be even possible that they'll be releasing it on the same day that TG first premiered, though I don't think that WB(movie division) would go for that..)

Did you see what I saw?
The Hunt for Red October (1990) (visual effects art director: ILM)
The Abyss (1989) (effects art director: ILM)
ILM = Industry Light & Magic?
Sounds interesting :)
