Anyone noticed B5 DVD repackaging
Anla'Shok Douglas Nicol
Ranger
in Babylon 5
I haven't been on lately due to various problems at home but I don't know if this is news or not.
First off.....B5 box sets are available cheaply.
WH Smiths in the UK have them at £24.99
HMV at £29.99
What I noticed is that the much maligned packaging has been done away with and individual slimline DVD cases for each disc are now the norm.

I just picked the B5 movie collection, noticed something right off; The "banner" of screen caps on each disc is taken from its counterpart on the Season 5 set.
Ouch.
And there's only one opening menu movie, but each movie has its own color scheme, so the movie goes to black before going to the menu proper. And the opening movie shows several clips, all but one of which are from In The Beginning.
Double ouch.
And I haven't heard this mentioned yet. This seems just a tad worse than the upside-down Minbari ship, for instance. Come on, people, I thought you were supposed to be picky! ;)

Anyway, on topic, that sounds like good news. It'd be better if they'd done it from the beginning, though. Somewhere, some anal-retentive fan is going to pop a blood vessel because his DVD packaging doesn't match up.
Not quite, the spines of the mini DVD boxes still form up into the B5 station logo as seen before.
I due believe we had mentioned already the re-use of the Season 5 DVD labels.
I looked back on some older topics to see if I missed it somehow, but I guess I wasn't thorough enough. Or maybe it just wasn't mentioned here.
Of course, I am glad to have them. Finally saw Thirdspace and A Call to Arms. I'll probably watch River of Souls in the next couple days, and then I'll get the Crusade set a few weeks later, and will have seen all of Babylon 5 that has yet been created! All will bow before me!
Or not. ;)
:robot: :D
But I hated the slimline dvd case things they've done with the UK editions so I got the Region 1 versions which have the better cases.
