Spam filter conspiracy?
Random Chaos
Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
in Zocalo v2.0
Reason for spam?
Examples:
My former college account:
They implemented a spam filter in late 2002. Less then a weak later the ammount of spam I was getting went from less then 1 spam per month to arround 5 spams per day.
My current ISP:
They implemented a spam filter a couple years back. Before that I was getting no spam on the account. After that I have been getting arround 5-10 spamms per week. I have never use that account for any website submissions either.
Counter-examples:
My forwarding server:
CJB.Net - This server forwards any emails sent to anything@mysite.cjb.net to my main e-mail account. I get up to 2 spamms per week (often less) here and this one I advertise on quite a few websites and used in signups - been using it as such for 6 years. It has no spam filter.
My server:
No spam filter. anything@mysite.com gets read as my primary e-mail, unless it is a hosted account. I get usually no more then 1 spam per week, often none. I have this e-mail listed on several websites and use in signups, though I have only had it for about 7 months.
The interesting coincidence?
E-mail addies that use spam filters get more spam. This spam started soon after the spam filters were installed.
E-mail addies that use no spam filters get almost no spam.
Coincidence?

My cjb account, used all over the place, gets 1 or 2 spam a week.
Now of course I use my gmail accounts for damn near everything, and I rarely see any spam (maybe 1 a week at the most).
