Think I'll go get a Whopper!
:D
(Whopper Head) :p
a small time fish and chip shop/hamburger joint in Sydney or Melbourne already had the name Burger King when BK moved into AU. The small timer refused to sell the name, hence, 'Hungry Jacks' = 'Burger King'AU
i think i like hungry jacks a little more....
I'd say the only problem with that name is that they would be unable to make those incredibly disturbing commercials (with the plastic mask and such) with "Hungry Jack." The Burger King is far more sinister!
yes

Interesting... I'd wondered about that when I was visiting Perth back in '94 (during a WESTPAC cruise); at the time, I thought it was just a marketing decision (i.e., "Hungry Jack's" just sounded better to Aussies or the "home office" wanted the Australian franchise(s) to seem a little more "native").

Oh, don't worry. The Hungry Jack's commercials are pretty damn disturbing.
