The best view was on TV, or reportedly on top of the Urban Center Building with a huge honkin pair on binocs.
• Aren't Volcanos areas where God farted? :-D

After all, Black Holes are where God devided by zero, of course.

Rumble rumble...

They say they think new magama has moved into the chamber...and are now predicting a "large" eruption...
• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
yes I read about that too. At first they thought it was magma from 1996 finally getting to the top, but now it looks like there may be more.. now that there is more gas.

Took me a bit...

Thats Merapi if it's in Indonesia...

Philippines would have made it Mayon.

They both look a lot alike! :D

They have these huge lateral canyon scars running from their summits.

It's definitely the Indonesian one. I didn't fly over the phillipines until the 2nd leg of my flight. Good to know what it is. Unfortunately my homeward flight is at night so I won't get a chance to get a better photo.

Yesterday they observed a hot spot of 500-600°C on the uplifted portion. This is the first thermal imaging run since last week.
New Lava Dome Growing on Mount St. Helens
By RUKMINI CALLIMACHI, Associated Press Writer

MOUNT ST. HELENS, Wash. - Volcanic rock has flowed to the surface of Mount St. Helens' crater, creating a new lava dome after weeks of seismic activity, a geologist said Tuesday.

Scientists had known for days that magma or molten rock was nearing the surface, as a bulge grew on the south side of the existing 1,000-foot lava dome and the increasingly hot rock gave off steam as it met water and ice in the crater. The bulge is now considered a new lava dome, the scientists said.
