(Worf) i bet there is a guy working for either valve or vivendi that gets paid to write new stories to go with hl2 delays
(wiseguy) yeah, i think most of it is just publicity making.. would be fun if its delayed though :)

Man, I sure hope Valve wins.
Has Sierra/Vivendi done anything good in the last few years? I mean come on, I could ALMOST understand ITF but to delay HL2?
Do your really dare to say that? :)

Same thing with Freespace. I would LOVE Freespace 3 to tie up all the loose ends, but I can understand why Interplay didn't make it due to FS2's pretty poor sales compared to the first game.
Edit: Oh jesus, I pissed off the Klingon

I have banned people for less.
but to delay HL2? One of their biggest cash cows? seems rather silly ot me, no mater how it is being distributed theymake money, so whats their beef. They get to charge the same amount as the retail version, but do not incur the costs of packaging. Whats the problem?
As I understand it the problem is that they don't get to charge the same amount. Steam sales are direct to Valve.
And lets face it, B5 does not enjoy a really large fan base despit how much those of here love the show.
I think you'd be very surprised how large the fanbase for B5 is. I have found fans in the most unexpected places and the most unexpected people, and I know more B5 fans than Star Trek fans. I should also point out that I only know one other hardcore scifi fan like me. Also consider just how well the DVDs have sold.

Common man, gimme a break. Please? No?

I started to get that idea after I read the second article, which I did not do until after I posted. But I still do not see what Sierra is comlaining about. It seems to me they released the intelectual rights for Hlaf-Life. Weather or not Valve said what they were going to do with it seems to be a mute point to me.

I haven't met very many B5 fans, most Sci-Fi people I know don't like it all that much, no mater how much I try to convince them. I couldn't even get my girlfriend to sit through the first disc of season 1. And could you believe that she hates Ivonova?

No! There will be no breaks in my dictatorship!

Because the more people who buy through Steam, the less sales vivendi gets and so the less profits. If Steam proves successful for game distribution, it could mean the start of the end for publishing companies' huge profits.

Then they arn't true scifi fans. :) Either that or they like technobabble and tight clothes more than a good story.

That may be so, but unless part of the agreement was that Valve must tell Sierra everything they were working on at the time, then Sierra is SOL. That argument of "Well they didn't tell us they were working on Steam at the time of our agrement" doesn't hold water for me. From a buisness standpoint I can see why they are upset, but it doesn't seem to me that they have a whole lot of choice.
