I saw it. It was better than I expected...but I don't think I'll see it again. Basically I amused myself by playing "spot the story fragments" :) And at the end I was glad they only said "suggested by the works of I. Asimov"

I rather enjoyed it, because it wasn't supposed to actually based on any of the books/stories, just inspired by them.

I saw it the day it came out, and lets just say I want my $10 back. I damn near fell asleep half-way through. If it wasn't for the build-up for the "revolution", I would've walked right out and demanded a refund.

The only good part was when that chick shot that robot with her eyes closed.
• there were a number of good moments IMHO, saw it twice, worth seeing thrice.

And yea, there were some MINOR story fragments, nothing overwhelming though, no where near as bad as say, the 5th element...

Hey, Fifth Element rocked. It wasn't a movie meant to be taken seriously. It took the piss out of damn near everything and did a damn good job of it IMO. Plus, you got to see Mila's boobs. I, for one, am not complaining. ;)

Huh? Last time I checked, The 5th Element wasn't based on or "inspired by" anything in particular.

and a killer score, great visuals, amazing sound, and her boobies and if i remember correctly a little fuzzyiness.

I happen to enjoy the movie. Not everything has to be high art.

5th Element rocked.
• It wasn't bad I liked 5th Element you can never go wrong with Bruce as your lead & yeah those boobs were nice :D.

5th Element was cool! I wonder if Besson will make a follow up as apparently he wrote a very large story to begin with which could be split into a trilogy, or at least another film.

Anyway Ibot was good, enjoyed it. I'm not gonna rush back out to see it again but it was worth seeing. The effects were stunning.

The fifth element was fantastic! The sheer...oddballness of it was so well carried by the cast, and of course, the visuals and set design were just plain great, as well. And even without boobies, it is a really great, vastly underappreciated flick :D

As for sequels, I demand one, if not two! That universe needs more exposure!

All that you said is true, and the Mila B00bies were a bonus.
• either I misunderstood someone else, or

someone was commenting on the story fragments, I took that to mean flaws in the story, which I Robot have very few, and none that impacted the story.

I used the example of the fifth element, an excellent movie, but it did have some very large flaws in the story.

However on second glance, people were comparing the film to Asmov's books, which well...they HAD to credit him, because they used some of his ideas, but they DID state based "losely" on the books, which is better then most films that are based on books. (I've only seen one film based on the book that was as good as the book, the rest simply butcher it. :D )

What film may i ask? I can think of a couple that are as good as, or almost as good as the book, 2001 and 2010 come to mind, but of course, Arthur C Clarke wrote them (the books AND the screenplay) at the same time.

And of Course the LOTR Trilogy was Fairly faithful to the books (within limits, Many people complain about the things that were cut, but honestly, except for us geeks, who's going to sit through a 10 hour LOTR movie, then come back for more when the 2nd book is made into a movie, If they put EVERYTHING from the books into the movies, you'd be looking at DAYS of movie watching, sounds like a fun time to me, but not i'm thinking to your average moviegoer)

Then there are movies that are good movies, but lousy versions of the book, The Bourne Identity for one, I rather enjoyed the movie, but apart from the Characters Names, it had almost nothing to do with the book, I'm told that the Bourne Supremacy is the same way, a very good action film, that shares nothing but Character Names with the book.

Then there are the utter and total jokes, Jurassic Park/Lost World, and Interview with the Vampire/Queen of the Damned come to mind, movies that are just total Dreck based on (what i consider) good books.

Ahh the Fifth Element...good, old fashioned, fun time at the movies. Nothing too weighty, just some fun visuals and neat characters.

I love Gary Oldman in anything he's in (check Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead), but especially when he plays a bad guy. He seems to be having too much fun with those parts.

Also, though he's had bad luck picking "good" movies (check out Color of Night)to start in, I also enjoy watching Bruce Willis in movies like this. He's Awe hell, if I blow up this ________ (insert noun)already can I just go home? additude is what makes these movies fun.

After watching The Bourne Supremacy I decided to read the books. I am still reading Identity and it is just starting to be like the movie (and I'm on the last 100 pages). I am guessing one of the reasons for the changes to the story is 9/11.

Anyway, the book (since I am still on the first one, I can't comment on the other two) and the movies were both good, even if they're completely different.
