Stargate Atlantis... what do people think?

Well I've watched about 5 episodes of the new spin off series and I have to say I'm impressed. Don't read on if you don't want any spoilers!!!!!!!!
Has the bones of a quality show and can easily see it running for a few seasons, aslong as they keep up the quality. The humour is spot on, in some places better than SG1. The cast are good overall. McKay is hilarious especially when he's with the scottish scientist (gotta love the scots!). Sheppard is funny, he's like O'Neill in many ways with his humour but he's a bit more layed back. I'm not so sure about Weir yet, she's ok. Shame they didn't have the continuity with the actors from season 7 to 8 of SG1 (the old Weir was a blonde, and was in the last 2 episodes of season 7). Teyla of course fills the shoes held by T'ealc in SG1... what can I say... she's cute ;) Lt Ford's character also has good humor, esp when it comes to taking the mick out of Dr McKay.
So the Wraith, the big bads of the Pegasus galaxy... I think they're quite nasty and make the G'ould look like kittens. Will be interesting to how the war with them develops.
Oh and the theme tune is pretty cool aswell.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when the Wraith find Atlantis (I'm guessing that will be the end of season cliff hangar), it should be an interesting battle.

And no Macgyver....
McKay can be funny, but they dont need to try so hard. Scottish Doctor, Becket, I like him. I liked the episode where he helped that race make the virus that kills the raith but also killed half of their people as well. It showed a lot more realism than in some other sci fi shows (*caugh star trek caugh*).
In all, I like it, and hope it stays on the air for a while.

When they do find a way home, I will be curious to see why they don't give the order to evacuate Atlantis and leave a nuke behind to prevent the Wraith from ever reaching Earth.

*sigh* I wish people would stop bitching about that and actually look up WHY that happened. The actress currently playing Wier was originally going to play the part in SG-1's "The Lost City", but couldn't make it because she was working on another project. They found the blonde actress just in time, and they used her instead. I say again, [b]this Wier was the ORIGINALLY INTENDED actress[/b].
SpiritOne... I have thought that about McKay at times... sometimes he can be a bit too scarcastic. I'm sure he'll find a happy medium. But Yeah Beckett is excellent!!

Didn't realise about the casting. Anyway wasn't moaning about it, just commenting on the difference between the actors!

Yeah, I just love the way that "In the leg!" was emphasized. :D His reaction when he found out he couldn't eat or drink was hilarious. :P

It wasn't you dude. Its just been brought up so many damn times that it gets on my nerves sometimes.
On a side note, 4 of the main cast members have signed up for [URL=http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/index.html]The London Film and Comic Con[/URL], as well as the executive producer for SG1 and Atlantis.

Atlantis hasn't started yet over here, so the spoiler tag is a must.
SG-1 season 8 starts in Octeber (5th) , I believe Atlantis starts on the 12th.
However I have not been able to wait, so I've been downloading them. :D

The thing about the hiatus is that when new episodes start airing again, we'll be atleast two weeks behind.
