Locomotion

BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Anyone else here a fan of the old transport and railroad tycoon games? Transport Tycoon Deluxe is my favorite. Now, the creator of those games has made a new version called Locomotion, and a demo was released the other day. Much fun to be had doing things like breaking land speed records.

  • YEP! I still have my copy of TTDLX too bad it doesn't work with XP. This looks good though I might load it up when i get home.

From the little I've played so far, it's basically TTDlx with gameplay improvements, different vehicles (no maglevs though! noooooooo!), and better graphics. This makes me happy. :) Well, apart from the maglev thing.
  • aww well i was really impressed with TTDLX when I first got it. I loved transporting shit around like gold or making goods & bringing them to other cities. The Airport industry was the most fun but you had to wait a long ass time to get all the spiffy futuristic planes. My favorite thing to watch was to stop a bus on the rail crossing & watch the train ram it ! HAHA

My favorite thing to do was build up a big hill, then turn the entire thing into one big mass of train tracks and tunnels, all going somewhere.

I remember playing RR Tycoon (Amiga Computer version). Good game. But the AI for train movement couldn't handle large track systems.

BTW - I've recently started playing with Trainz (my dad picked it up at a train show and I borrowed it off him). Interesting little program...no "game" to it as such beyond timesaver and op session type fun, but it does allow you to design your own layout :).

Trainz is a nifty idea, but I've never been able to justify buying it. :) I actually like TTD more for building my own transport network and watching all the little vehicles move around (especially the trains) more than the business simulation aspects. :)

You can also do some neat train wreaks in Trainz :D

Yeah, TTD was excellent, still play it now. Get OpenTTD (http://www.openttd.com).

I've been playing that far too much for the past two days when I'm supposed to be working. :D
