H2G2 text game rereleased for free in Java form

Looking for a fun way to pass the time? Wondering what it would be like if the world blew up, denying you access to New York (assuming it really existed in the first place), McDonalds, and tea? Always wanted to play a genuine text-adventure game but sadly born too late to have the opportunity? Got a hankerin' for some good, old fashion Douglas-Adams-Hitchhikers-Guide-to-the-Galaxy zaniness?

Well, here's your solution!

In celebration of the upcoming BBC remake of the Hitchhikers radio series, the original Infocom Hitchhiker's Guide game (circa 1984, twenty full years ago) has been released for free in java form. Right here, at this link. Click the text! Click it, you fool!

My only comment is that it is NOT a "BBC Remake of HHGTTG"

It is a dramatization of the 3rd, 4th and 5th books of the HHGTTG series, the orig BBC series covered the first 2 books, this picks up where the orig series left off. And with most of the Main cast from the orig back (Peter Jones as Arthur Dent, Mark Wing-Davie as Zaphod, Geoffrey McGivern as Ford, Susan Sheridan as Trillian and Stephen Moore as marvin the paranoid android. And even the Late Douglas Adams as Agrajag!)
  • I think there was a thread on this a couple of years ago.....

I used to play the hell outta it.
