I feel the sky tumbling down....

As you may have heard recently, there's a big-assed storm named Frances shooting down the atlantic, right towards, among other things, Florida. Since I (and at least one other person on this board) live in Florida, I may as well bring this up. I'd also like to mention that since, as a veteran of Hurricane Andrew, as not fun as most natural disasters are, I'd have to say that being bulls-eyed by a Category 5 Hurricane is probably one of the most not-fun ones. At least, insofar as the recovery is concerned. Bastards are probably already marking 1 gallon water jugs at thirty bucks.
It looks like it's headed farther north than I am, though, so I might have gotten lucky. Not as lucky as I would like, given that the storm is roughly the size of the entire state, and it would take something far, far worse than a hurricane to change her (it's a female Frances, by the way. The names alternate in gender, along with moving up the alphabet.) course enough for me to get off scot free. Not to mention that I have a fair amount of family who lives up state.
Anywho, just wanted to let you know. I'll try to keep up with the topic. For those of you playing the home game, here is the National Hurricane Center's site, with a link to information on Frances front and center. There are maps and other cool, informative (and if you live in the sub-tropics) terrifying things there, so check it out.
Oh, and, in case there's you know, widespread loss of power and communications, I live in the greater Miami area. If your curious about what's happening with me before power comes back, generalize from that.

Me = Just south of Orlando
We = SOL.
My my, are we not lucky? I'm hoping it goes back out to sea. I will not wish it simply heads north of us, but...
*sigh*
This one will be alot worse the charly. charley looked like daisy's compared to this...
There's also one delightful path that has it pulling a Charlie and undershooting it's projected path by a wide margin and hitting the Miami area dead on. In which case, given that (for the moment) we aren't evacuating, since south seems to be the place to go, and we're about as south as we can be, we would be screwed. It would be Andrew all over again, except with Andrew we had enough warning to actually leave first.
Its no use fretting overmuch about it, I suppose. We'll know more come morning.
What chased us out you ask?
Hurricane Camile (I believe that was the spelling). Lucky for us it went North, but it scared the shit out my parents, so now...
We Rock'N'Roll out here in California to the regular Earthquake...
one just west
one just east
both close enough to shave with...
*sigh*
If I disapear, I've gone north....

You're getting owned for making that snotstar! ;)
a green car with purple trim and aardvark decal. :D
Also, on the TV, I saw a trio of people attempting to surf at Hollywood beach. Morons.
I'm also finding it a little creepy to be anywhere but the living section of the house, as it is the brightest. The lack of natural light coming through the windows thanks to the shutters everywhere else isn't exactly soothing. Not to mention the howling wind. Not that we don't get a couple good wind-howlers every year (usually just bad thunderstorms, and not state-sized tropical cyclones), but it still makes the back of my neck tingle.

There's always someone, isn't there? They wouldn't blame themselves if they got hurt, either...
not as worried now...

So what's so bad in it?
Here in Finland we got dark from four pm to eight am at winters. (well, for darkest couple weeks... make that one hour longer)
