Wha?!? I mean...?!?!

You get 3 free naked women when you sign up, didn't you know that???
I have 300GB of storage on my desktop harddrive and unlimited on my uni's imap server.
wtf do you do with all that space ?
my own, gmx, also upgraded to that recently. now i'm left with wondering why i need 1gb of storage because as biggles said the harddrive offers plenty of space.

against that, gmail has no chance in coolness :D
i really dont see why id need to have 1gb of storage space. i think its just a case of gigabyte envy: "ive got more storage space than you!"
You'd be surprised. The only reason people don't NEED 1GB of email is because they have to erase it due to size limitations. Give it to them and they will fill it in no time. I can't tell you how many calls I get a month at work of some user complaining they can't save stuff to their outlook personal folders. That means they have exceeded the 2GB size limit of the PST file in outlook. Most users average 2 to 4 GB of mail...
I don't see any need of saving most emails. Nice to have ones with passwords and from webshops...but most emails contains nothing of real interest for the future anyway.
Most people like to save every useless bit of email "just in case" they will ever need it any time in the next 100 years.
I have saved every single email I have received except for junk mail since I got on the internet many years ago, and my mail folders still only total 410MB. The people who are getting over 2GB must be saving all their spam and receiving huge attachments as well or something.
I've got all my mail saved, except for a harddrive crash in 97, and its a bit over 1 gig, granted, there is a lot of support mail for when i worked for an ISP, thats prolly 500 megs of it.
but i AM saving it, cause what if i DO need it over the next 100 years! and you know, the DAY after i delete it, is when i'll need it.
:)
I still have e-mail from two different accounts stored on my hard drive dating back to 99 and I'm just now breaking 24MB. ;) I keep it because sometimes I look back for a little taste of nostalgia.
Having had time to play with my new Gmail account, I have to say that I really, really like it. The forum-like organization of replies is useful, as is the ability to Star emails and all that. Most of the features aren't all that revolutionary, but the interface is really great, and it's frickin' Google email. :p
is it only a webail?
...the_exile wonders if C_mon knows what he is talking about. Gmail is strictly webmail.
