OK guys, girls and lurkers the website for the SETI team Babylon 5 : Into the Fire is moving hosts very shortly.
But I now need some feedback from current members and prospective members as to the future of the team.

I've set up a poll on the existing site [url="http://www.cactushead.f2s.com"]here[/url] and a more detailed explanation of the team situation and poll options in the news section.

So please pop by and voice your opinion via the poll or our forums.


Addendum--> If you just get the top menu and a black page then my soon to be exhosts are playing up. Just click on 'news' to read the explanation and 'forum' to post your views. This is one huge reason why the website is moving.

    Well striker, as you've apparently got zero work units against your name and you've forgotten your original email address then you'll just have to create a new account.

    You should still be able to use "Striker" as your username as long as you have a new email address - just don't forget it this time [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img]

    The guys at SETI can not help you gain access to your old account if you are unaware of your original email address. This is for security reasons as well as administrative reasons.

    Striker - That [i]is[/i] wierd, as the stats on the B5:ITF site are lifted directly from the SETI servers.

    Why your stats don't reflect this is a mystery to me - the only normal reason is that you haven't completed a work unit in the 40 hours you've stated you've done.

    I hope this doesn't put you off from re-joining as it's probably just a one of problem on the SETI servers - maybe they just lost you email address [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img]

    Biggles - you may be able to change your email address if you fill in your info into this [url="http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/account_area.html"]page[/url]

    Hopefully you'll not need your old email address to be an active account now in order to change it - I don't know for sure as I've never had to to this - good luck.

    Biggles - I presume you were trying to change it to a new email address in the SETI Account page but simply typed in the wrong thing.

    You [i]should[/i] be able to change your email address if you fill in your info again into this [url="http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/account_area.html"]page[/url]

    If you don't know what the email address that you entered incorrectly is, then try to just double click your mouse over the white "email" textbox on that page, and you should get a list of the emails you've previously entered. Just select the one that you think is most likely and try again.

    I've worked it out now. I thought I entered my paradise.net.nz email, but I actually entered one for ambrai.cjb.net. I still can't get the linux client going properly though. There isn't much in the way of simple instructions out there.

    Although I havn't personally setup SETI on a Linux machine I'll try to help out.

    First of all what type of processor do you have.

    Second, what version of of the client have you downloaded from the SETI website? It should be something like i386-pc-linux-gnu-gnulibc2.1.tar or i386-pc-linux-gnulibc1-static.tar

    Thirdly, what exactly are you having problems with when trying to set it up?

    110 hours is bad but it isn't the highest I've seen.

    Z'Ha'Dum in our rival Babylon 5 team has an average of 161 hours and even DanMoran in our own team has 154 hours.

    And they're by no means the worst I've seen, as some users have taken 200+ hours per workunit [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/eek.gif[/img]

    Valen knows what PC's they're using to get these averages.

    Actually, i think thats about how long it takes my Dual p120 do crunch a unit, heh
