Leaving Lawn furniture out can turn into a intresting pass time... you can sit inside and watch the fly. Also leaving Sharp things to get blown away is good to:D

For those that haven't heard yet, it has now reached a strong category 4 storm.

Category Four Hurricane:
Winds 131-155 mph (114-135 kt or 210-249 km/hr). Storm surge generally 13-18 ft above normal. More extensive curtainwall failures with some complete roof structure failures on small residences. Shrubs, trees, and all signs are blown down. Complete destruction of mobile homes. Extensive damage to doors and windows. Low-lying escape routes may be cut by rising water 3-5 hours before arrival of the center of the hurricane. Major damage to lower floors of structures near the shore. Terrain lower than 10 ft above sea level may be flooded requiring massive evacuation of residential areas as far inland as 6 miles (10 km). Hurricane Luis of 1995 was a Category Four hurricane while moving over the Leeward Islands. Hurricanes Felix and Opal of 1995 also reached Category Four status at peak intensity.
• this ain't good...we live next to a mobile home park...

good news is...it's going south of us alittle..
• Random ChaosRandom Chaos Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
Yeah...

Latest track takes it over FL, into the Atlantic, and reimpacting in the Carolina's. After which it will go over the Chesapeake Bay and up the Delmarva. This doesn't look good for us in Maryland either...further inland it would be weaker and effect the Chesapeake less...
• the calm before the storm...

and thar she blows!

JUST after I took that, it started raining. Long exposure time = brighter image.

The core of the Hurricane has left Flordia (though the aft portions of the circulation have yet to exit). It has dropped to Category 1, however they are predicting some strengthening before it impacts the Carolinas, possibly bringing it back up to Category 2.
• *Sigh*

Lots of damage elsewhere, we were lucky, never got strong winds. Other's were not.
Punta Gorda was pretty well smashed...~60 dead. :(

Hmm... says sixty body bags ordered, but no known death count yet. Hopefully, the actual count is a bit lower.
• according to the local news, he ordered 60 with the comment that he hopes it will be enough.
• Grandparents (who alternate between Maine in the summer and Florida in the winter) got a call from their insurance company: they won't insure their mobile home on Sanibel Island (right off of Ft. Myers) against hurricane damage.

That's a hell of a time to get a call like that. Likely after taking their money for the premiums with no questions...

• Your can ensure a mobile home for the amount you bought it for AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON IT

Once it's paid for, they ensure it for $5000, while taking almost that much each year.

so, not worth it in the slightest.

well, the storm was a dud up here, but now I have a small barrier to keep water back in case another crazy hurricane comes along and tries to ruin my day. which it will.

I so hope insurance is not that expensive there. Me and Mrs Hobo will probably be moving to the greater Tampa area next spring. We are tired of winter.....
• just don't get a mobile home. :) :D

Be sure you can tolerate humidity, though. Even warm weather with moderately high humidity is absolutely awful. You cannot escape the heat, and it simply wears you out. I'm all the way up here on long island, and boy can it get humid...60F to 70F feel so much hotter, and in the 80's and 90's...it's just plain awful.

So take that into consideration :D
• No biggie.....We live in St. Louis, although the sun isnt as hot, we get 90 plus with high humidity here all summer long.

Except this year.....Its been really weird, its been 80 at the most for about 3 weeks here....

We usually go to Florida every summer. But chose Cancun this year. Wanted to live in a little town called Mexico Beach, which is on the other side of Tyndall AFB near Panama City, but its all condos there now. Plus not much use for a techie there.
