Personally from all the doom ports ive played I thought DOOM 2 was the hardest. (I even played the N64 port) The last level when I finally made it there (without cheats) I realized was impossible without clipping (walk threw walls). You can't get to that switch behind the wall without clipping so that always confused me.

You're not the only one who wasn't impressed with Far Cry, Entil'Zha. I never even finished the demo.
Really? I'm playing it through for my fifth time, having successively completed the first four difficulty levels. The 'Realistic' setting is the most fun I've ever had--you're dead if you're spotted.

I'm just not that interested in realistic shooting games. I'll play them occasionally, but usually no more than a demo.

theres an elevator you have to activate taht while moving up on it you will at one point be right in line with the small hole in the wall that allows oyu to pump a rocket into the vital spot (John Romero's head on a stick in the PC version.) It only takes 2 or 3 rockets to do the job, but the timing is hard.

I stoped playing FarCry shortly after the mutated monkeys started attacking me in the jungle out of nowhere. At that point for me the difficulty went from a good challenging game to flat out riddiculous, and I lost interest.

(The rant, not the comic.)

That pretty well sums up my feelings on the game.
• That's it, I'm buying it today, as soon as someone who owns a credit card gets home. :D

If you're going to get Doom 3, here are some mods I recommend based on their description. I can't test them out myself since I had to return my mom's computer, but they sound cool. Just don't be a wuss and get a mod that adds a flashlight to your gun. Really, it isn't a big deal having to pull out your flashlight every now and then. The game isn't scary, and 90% of the time, nothing is hiding in the dark, anyway. Plus, sometimes when you wack zombies with it, they flip on their way to the floor.

Grenade toss and weapon switch-back with one key:

Grenades toggle-able like flashlight:

More Gore:

Still no impaled Marines, or bodies chained to the ceiling.

Improved Physics with Shotgun:

This mod actually does several things I don't care for, but it also makes enemies "fly 2-3 metres with a nice shotgun blast, or in fact with any other weapon."

Now all someone has to do is make a mod that lets you do melee attacks with your gun. Or, turn the machine gun into an Assault Rifle that can take Imps down with a thee shot burst, and also has a bayonett on the end that can be used to decapitate enemies (when you press the fire button right next to them). It might take a while to do the animations for a decapitation, but I'm sure you all agree it would be worth it.

Maybe its because we are more into Adventure type games, i'm pretty sure you were the one who turned me on to TLJ , i just prefer that style of game.

Don't get me wrong, there are some FPS's that i find enjoyable to play, i rather enjoy the starwars FPS's. but all in all, once you have played one, you've played em all.

As for Doom2, the best way to play doom2 was with the Simpsons Wad installed, now THAT was fun!

Yep, that would be me. :)

Same here. I quite like the Jedi Knight games and Half-Life, but that's because one has light sabers and the other has great writing.

The barney mod is also good.

Now see, I didn't like the barney mod, but thats prolly cause at the time that it was out, i had a daughter who watched barney non stop. and i was just about barney'd out.

But you got to kill him, violently, again and again and again!
• I heard 'Barney' and thought of the HL security guard.
• Me too. Completely forgot about the whole purple dinosaur thing.

No, see cause i'd hear is voice, and end up writihing in agony on the floor and therefor was unable to kill him...

Oh and have you heard any news about TLJ2? i see that they have their official website up, but not a lot of news.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Yeah, I heard about Dreamfall when they announced it back before E3 (there was a thread here about it actually).
• Damn I love this game... had a friend pick it up for me when he want to Wal-mart, called him at 6 am this morning and had him come ever ASAP. After about four hours of play, I'm quite impressed.

It's certainly not a thinking man's shooter, but damn I like killing zombies. After all the complaints about predictable enemies (Especially the thing about scripted sequences ever time you find an ammo cache), I was a bit worried that I'd find it boring, but I've only seen one or two instances of that... and I can't recall a single enemy having silently teleported behind me.

Anyone who thinks it isn't scary has clearly never faced down a charging Pinky demon with the ammo indicator on their machine gun flashing red. :D
