Still no sign of anyone in the UK taking up the movie. Hopefully a successful turnout in the US will get Channel 4 of their asses...

TBH I hope BBC2 pick up the show cos IMHO they are the main SciFi dudes in UK terrestrial TV - second only to Sky One in overall TV.

Yeah I think the new movie's gonna be great! Hopefully that'll lead to a new generation of B5.

I wish they'll show it in UK soon. Yeah hopefully Channel4 will take it up, but please don't put it in the 2am slot again. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] Is there like a letter campaign we can do to encourage this?

I hope BBC 2 get it aswell, with Star Trek TNG, Voyager, and Buffy they are the top sci fi station over here. C4 can go to hell for all I care. They screwed B5, Crusade, and Angel season 1.

I hope we in the UK don't have to wait to long, like until they release it on DVD... I can't bear to wait that long for it!!!

Sure. I know how to get a hold of the entity that owns [url="http://www.minbari.co.uk"]www.minbari.co.uk[/url] and am assured that a page can be made available immediately with a simple "we the undersigned want blah blah blah..." paragraph, followed by a list of signees, with the option to add your name to the list.

I mention minbari.co.uk purely because it is clearly a UK based site and might be more appropriate.

Regardless of who hostd it etc, How about a few scribes putting the all important paragraph together?

How about this as a starting point:

"We the undersigned, are all fans of Babylon 5. We are euphoric that the SciFi Channel in the US commissioned J Michael Straczynski to create a TV Movie entitled "Legend of the Rangers". We also note this movie will be shown in the US on the weekend beginning January 19, 2002. so far, no terrestrial or digital TV channel in the UK has given any indication they are intending to pick up rights to show the movie in the UK. We call on the major TV channels in the UK to make a statement of intent and to make a commitment with regard to Legend of the Rangers."

We in the German fandom are discussing such a petition at this very moment (He, we don't even get B5 in reruns). Some thoughts:

An electronical petition (as proposed here) is much less strong as with written signatures.

You have to address the petition to an entity which is at least connected to someone who is part of the decision process of obtaining the rights from WB. AFAIK, for instance in Germany no-one actually has the right to show B5 (the series) at this moment, and no-one even thinks about re-gaining them for re-airing the show. So, for us, such a petition seems pretty pointless. Of course, that may be a totally different situation in the UK.

No matter what, I wish those who have the chance to watch the new movie a whole lot of fun! I don't know how long it will take for us to watch it.. maybe if someone records it and brings it to Germany in the middle of February.. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/wink.gif[/img]

Im planning to download it. I know its probably illegal but I don't really fancy waiting months/years/decades for C4 to pick it up.

I hope the BBC get it, I think they will try as an act of revenge for C4 getting Enterprise.
