Free iPod? Legitimate!
samuelk
The Unstoppable Mr. 'K'
in Zocalo v2.0
NOTE: This offer is only open to U.S. residents.
This site has been making the rounds recently, and by all rights it looks like a scam.
But as it turns out, some people have actually been getting free iPods by completing the requirements.
Here's proof:

To get a free iPod, here's what you have to do:
- Sign up at the site
- Complete one of the offers listed (the eBay offer is the easiest -- all you have to do is create an eBay account and place one bid -- even if you don't win the auction, the offer still counts as completed -- so you can bid on something that you KNOW you'll be outbid on)
- Refer 5 other people. Each of your referrals has to complete one of the offers as well.
Once your offer and the offers of your 5 referrals are complete, you get a free iPod shipped to you, free of charge.
This site has been thoroughly researched, and it is legitimate.
The company running this site is Gratis Internet. They also run a site called FreeFlatscreens.com, also legit.
If anyone wants to sign up, you can use my referral ID: http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=7253086
Or you can just go to http://www.freeiPods.com and sign up without a referral.
NOTE: One word of warning. Since this offer relies heavily on e-mail ads, you'll probably want to sign up using a "junk" e-mail address (in other words, use an e-mail address that you won't mind being spammed).
Keep in mind that it takes a few days for offers to show as complete (the time it takes varies depending on the offer you choose).

Yay, just another way for spammers to harvest addresses.

Not at all. In fact, I know TWO people who got their iPods a week ago.
This is how they're getting around that nation-wide do-not-call list.
but you needed to sign up for AOL free trial and use it.
and sign up for some book/music/dvd club.
to much hassle.
Yes, but think about this for a second. They know anyone with a clue will use spare e-mail accounts, but will use real home addresses since they want to actually recieve the iPod. Its the same thing with that freedsl.com deal a few years back.

Free iPod.
Oh shit man, after looking at that site....you know why they're giving them away? Its the ones that are having audio problems! No wonder the damn things are free.
That's not true.
Apple is not giving them away. Gratis Internet actually purchases them from Apple.
All of the iPods carry Apple's 1 year warranty, even if they're refurbished (which the ones I've seen aren't...they're brand new).
They're giving away both the new 20GB iPod and the mini iPods (OR, you can choose $250 worth of iTunes credit). There's nothing wrong with the iPods.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, but the trade-offs can be tolerated if you feel the gains are worth it.
Given how I've always wanted an iPod, I just may give in using one of my many alternative addresses and a junk ID.

That's exactly what their doing, the no-call list only applies if there is no prior relationship with the business or it's associates. By signing up for the iPod, you are establishing a business relationship and allowing both that business and those businesses that have special agreements with it to add you to their contact list. If that's a trade-off you're OK with, then no problem, your probably just lonely and need a telemarketer to talk to...
Jake
I have completed my requirements for the free iPod. My offer (the eBay bid) is complete as well as the offers of my five referrals.
Now as long as the referrals all check out (they're checked to make sure they're all unique people), I get a free iPod.
Here's the text printed on the status page of my account:
Your Status:
Congratulations! You have currently completed all requirements to get your totally FREE iPod. We now need to confirm your account and referral offer completions. Please check back after 2 business days to see your status.
That "refer 5 people" makes it a pyramid scheme/chain letter that's easily prone to attract spammers, so be careful.
I used a spare spam e-mail address, so no worries.
They clearly state on their site that their business is ad-driven. It's more than obvious that if you sign up, you're going to get spam.
To me, it's worth a $250 iPod.
question...if you already have an e-bay account.....what do you do?
Create a new ebay acount using the e-mail address you used to sign up at freeipods.com.
That's what I did.
http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=7578219
how long does it take to confirm the ebay thing anyway? Really 3-4 days?!?
I ask because I signed up for ebay via their link, confirmed, bid on an item, was outbid, and status is still "Need one offer" Also, if I click their link for e-bay again it wants me to add seller information. which means credit card...which means no.
If anyone else is going to do this, please use my refer ID. :)

It should take 3 or 4 days, but keep in mind that it's business days, so weekends don't count.
If you don't get confirmed, send them an e-mail -- there's a link in the FAQ.
I accidentally registered TWICE...once via hotmail, and once with my real e-mail. Don't ask, I don't know..
soo, any firstones want to click this link and register? :)

If only one iPod donated then 3 months. ;)
I'm serious. Let me know. =)
If you actually get it, and it works, then I'll get in on this.
RadiusCo is taking iPod donations as payment for extra bandwidth for Firstones. If someone donates two iPods I'll donate an extra 15 gigabytes of bandwidth to Firstones every month for the next 6 months.

Damn, I need to start my own buisness so I can do stuff like that...

Oh FFS, can you blame me for being cautious? Stop being such a dick.

It's one thing to be cautious. It's another to be so pessimistic as to totally ignore proof that the offer actually works.
