I finally got something I've wanted since I was 6...

...AN ATARI 2600!

Neighbour gave me an old box he had, now I just need to get it working. Picked up the coax adapter and a new power pack, only two of the games work, Combat and Indy 500, and we only have one controller, so neither are much fun.

The rest of the games only show a black screen or colored bars with a humming noise, so I'm assuming the connection between the cartrage and the console. Anybody had much experience getting one of these up and running?

*hugs her still fully working Atari 800XL with games* Pengo! Joust! Asteroids! Donkey Kong Jr! Whee! I really need to get some cheap controlers and dust it off again...

As for making cartridges work, sorry can't help :( The most I did with mine was push the plastic slidey thing on the bottom when it got stuck :p Though sometimes hitting reset a few times does wonders...

Try using an eraser on the edge card portion of the cartridges... could be the contacts are gummed up after all these years... ;)

Hopefully the socket isn't the problem, although I doubt the other two that are working would work at all if that were the case...
