This is what happens when you put the days and months around the wrong way in your date format. :D
• David of MacDavid of Mac Elite Ranger Ca
Actually, that's quite impossible, unless there are at least 23 months now, and I haven't heard about it.

yeah well 23/05/04 still comes before 14/06/04

Yes it does, but if you write them american style and then treat them rest-of-the-world style, they look like they're the other way around.

Oh dear, Now i am confused,
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
If you provided those dates to a program in american style (mm-dd-yyyy) and then the program treated them like logical, rest-of-the-world style (dd-mm-yyyy) then the program would think that your submission date was after the cut off date (14 < 23). Now replace program with stupid human, and there's your problem.

Wouldn't any calendar system be programmed with the fact that there are only 12 months, and only 28-31 days?

No, of course not. That'd be as logical as putting four-digit dates in computers way back when. Long term planning seems to be a problem with those who write date-related computer programs.

Better though it is, even that isn't quite as good as yyyy-mm-dd, which sorts easily without actually having to parse.

Yes. That's the ISO standard format for dates, and is easily the best.
