in Zocalo v2.0
On July 5th Federal President of the Republic of Austria Dr. Thomas Klestil suffered a sever heart attack.
He was brought to the AKH Hospital in Vienna, where his condition was stabilized at first, but began to deteriorate significantly on July 6th.
President Klestil died at July 6th 11:33 PM (CET) from Multi-organ failure in the presence of his Family.
Dr. Thomas Klestil was born on November 4th 1932 in Vienna.
1957 he to graduated from university as Dr. of business sciences.
1959 he worked for the OEEC (today OECD) in Paris
1962 he became business attaché at the Austrian Embassy in Washington.
1966 he returned to Vienna, becoming secretary of Federal Chancellor Dr. Klaus.
1969 he was concerned with the founding of the Austrian consulate in Los Angeles.
1974 he was responsible for the relocation of important UN-Organisations to Vienna.
1978 he became Austrian UN Ambassador
1982 he became Austrian ambassador in the USA at the embassy in Washington D.C.
1987 he became secretary general for foreign affairs.
1992 he was elected Federal President of the Republic of Austria and re-elected 1998 as an independent candidate belonging to no Political Party.
His 2nd period of office would have ended this week, on July 8th
He was a competent President and a great man I admired most.
He was invaluable to Austria especially on the sector of foreign affairs, where he worked hard to restore Austria’s reputation that had been damaged by various events in the recent years.
Honest politicians are very rare but President Dr. Klestil was one of them.
He never broke his promise and always stood to his principles and the people of Austria.
You will be sorely missed.

As has already been stated (sort of), a truky idealistic leader rarely survives the compromise and often downright ugly corruption of ideals that the current sorts of polotical systems require for anyone to get into the upper echelons. For Dr. Klestil to get so far means he was a truly gifted man.
If you prescribe to MBTI psychological typing then I'm sure everyone will be unsurprised to know that there has never been an idealist in the ultimate seat of power in the USA. Mores the pity.
Atleast, thankfully this time, there were no asassins and beginnings of wars involved with the death of a prominent Austrian...
