Now, if they wanted nice things, they wouldn't have PCs. Putting an Apple monitor on one of those is like using HDTV and 5.1 surround sound to watch Gigli. All you get in the end is sharper looking crap.
Incidentally, 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz with "Millions" of colors. And no, I neither know nor care how many "Millions" is. It looks prettier than
"Thousands", and that's good enough for me on that front.

Oh, I don't know. My linux looks quite pretty with the plastik theme, and my DVDs wouldn't look any better if they were being powered by a mac than they do being powered by my AMD.
All I knew before reading that site was that Gigli is the worst movie of all time starring two astoundingly bad actors. Now, I wish I'd never heard of it at all. Even reading about it was bad - I had to stop after a page and a half.
1024x768 on my 17" CTX monitor. I've got my eyes on a Samsung 900DF as a replacement, and use the current monitor as a secondary display when I upgrade from my GF3.
heh... Well I already have the AGP GF3 that A-2597 sent running in the Athlon... so PCI is all I have left, unless a dual-head card came along to replace the AGP...
Fundage is a part of the equation... If I can find a used PCI GF3, it'll likely be more cost effective...
Hey... how's the Cell Phone games thing going?
Had any time to strafe in 6 axis lately? :D
This HW2 is kicking my @$$ at the shipyard level right now...
there are some good walkthroughs on the relic forums if you just cant get thru... its like the HW of old... you never quite know what the true objectives are that let you get thru each of the missions...
its still a great engine...
I still maintain the first developer to put HW2 Engine, in with a Quake3/UT engine FPS, in with a newtonian physics space sim.... will have an absolute WINNAH.
Thats like the Father, the SOn and the Holy ghost of games..:)

Fell through on the business side; couldn't find a distributor. My contract ran out on the 2nd. Since then, I've been looking at the Blizzard jobs page pretty much daily....

Oh, yeah!!! I gotta tell you, IFH with two joysticks is just amazing. I love it.

I still haven't beaten the first one... gotta get back to that at some point.

There are other places you can strafe in 6 axes too... ;)
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
Btw, (I'm gonna be axed for this) a few months ago i hooked up my X-Box controller to my PC and configured IFH to use it.
Was pretty decent(not descent ;) ) to control. (though i couldn't use the directional pad.. i think that was the fault of the drivers i used..)
I can't beat the Shipyard level, either... I keep trying to play this like it's Starcraft in space, massing Fighters and hurling them at the enemy cap ships. :D

Not maybe best tactic, in Homeworld 1 I used skirmish missions to try tactics and making lot of capships (destroyers, heavy cruisers and couple missile destroyers) worked well against fighters, especially fighter swarms in tight formation got half of them obliterated before they managed to fire. (wall formation was good for capships)
Best tactic with fighters is get them as much as you can get (also there has to bombers and those with heavier weapons) and attack from every direction so that capships can't use their heavy weapons to obliterate half of the group immediately.

I found a wall formation of missile frigates works very well against bomber raids in HW1.

Sadly, IFH seems to have soured me on other flight engines. I'm finding it very difficult to get into X2, for instance, because I can't use the same control scheme. I haven't tried it with Terminus or I-War (which, for some reason, I've had a hard time getting into anyway) yet. Maybe I should check out Orbiter....
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
Orbiter isn't quite the same. Most of your time is spent trying to avoid falling out of orbit. :)
So you guys think an old GF2 MX400 PCI will work ok as a second display to the GF3 AGP I'm using now?
I guess it doesn't matter too much if you say no, because I found one...
:p
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
Jack, anything will work for a second video card. Before I got my dual head I used to run an S3 Virge alongside my GeForce FX. Unless you plan on playing all your 3D games on your second monitor, it'll be fine.

If he's not a true friend, there should be no problem in stealing the monitors. :)

I'm itching to get dual going on this Athlon...
:p
Just think of it... A pair of 1600x1200 displays... oh my... my eyes!
:p
But, of course, that would require the fundage to buy.

Same. I can't stand 1280 x 1024, everything looks stretched to me.
