ES Posthumus

Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Anybody heard of this band, ES Posthumus? I just discovered them recently, heard a track of theirs on a streaming soundtracks radio station. Absolutely fantastic stuff!!! Their music has been used for Hollywood trailers like Minority Report and the latest Spiderman film. They blend classical music, choirs, flutes etc with modern synthesizers, loops and techno for an amazing sound. Extremely atmospheric, face paced, up lifting, dramatic and moving. Very cool stuff! Their album is called 'Unearthed'. I could only find one place that sold it, a US website called CDBaby.com, nobody had stock this side of the water. To be honest even Amazon.com didn't have it listed.

Anyway if you like soundtrack music I think you'll love this... highly recommended!

I'm there already... ;) Antissa sounds good... the rest is a bit too slow for what I'm looking for. :) But this could be a kicker... nevertheless.

I've liked their music ever since that one song played in one of the trailers for the first spider-man movie.

Nara, which isn't on the site is excellent, starts slow and mellow and builds really well, as you listen you can feel the sound rise to a plateau where it kicks in. Its not fast paced but has a very powerful kick to it, but with nice mellow segements. Nineveh (again not there) has a good beat, techno with violins.

Ebla and Nara are my favs! :)

I'll just throw in a little killer to go by here... :p The man may hang me for this, but who gives a rat's arse. :D

If you're interested in some good, free trance, try SpeCi. ;) For a good kickstart, I'd suggest You Are My Sky or Beyond Everything.

With so many bad mixers out there, I'm wondering why this man hasn't struck a record contract yet. ;) *nudge nudge*

The files are .it -ones, so you'll need something like Winamp or Sonique to play them.

Posthumus do make some pretty awesome music. I stumbled across them a few months back while trying to find the ending theme for Cold Squad - not Cold Case, the american imitation, Cold Squad. Anybody know where I could find that song...? :)

You can also listen to more of their music from the 'buy' section - http://cdbaby.com/cd/esposthumus - and the 2 minute preview tracks store themselves in your cache, so you can just pull them out and into your collection. I'll probably end up buying the disc eventually anyways. :D

Cheers Data Crystel. I've had a listen and its not really what I go for. Thats too much techno for me. I prefer more subtle blends. I'm a bit fussy really when it comes to tracks like that, some I like others I don't. Classic example is the one by Rob C on The Matrix soundtrack, great track, and of course a few from The Fat of the Land by the Prodigy. With ES Posthumus, for me they've got the right balance with all the different styles and sounds.

I think you mean Rob D - you can listen to his debut cd free at his site, http://rob-dougan.com/ . Pretty solid stuff!

Ah yes of course... Rob D... well I was close enough anyway ;) Cheers will have a look at that!

It's pretty cool stuff - I particularly recommend I'm not Driving Anymore and Nothing at All. :)

Some people find that Rob's voice grates on them, so the actual album is two cds, one vocal, one pure instrumental.
  • Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
That is pretty cool alright! Another album to add to the list :) Cheers! I can see what you mean about his voice, sometimes its not right, looking forward to hearing the instrumental versions.

Ahh, just thought to give it a go for the heck of it. ;) Mostly because this stuff is made by our very own spessu
