whew! Thought my PC bit the dust..
A2597
Fanboy
in Zocalo v2.0
Soo, I'm sitting here idly playing morrowind...
suddenly CRA-BOOM...power glitches...PC turns off...
ok, thats normal. And yes, I have a surge protector.
sooo...wait for storm to die down, start up PC fine....
about 3 minutes later, no reason, it shuts down. power light it on, but no fans, nothing running. to turn it off I had to flip the main switch on the back.
wait a few, try turning it back on...power LED is on, no fans...nothing. OH SHOOT!!!!
to make a long story short, it's working now, seems fine....dunno what caused that though....

and from what I'm reading, Antec power supplies are pretty poor anyway.
I guess I'll get a thermaltake one for about 50$

At least some pruction runs where complete crap.
There was huge amount of "exploded" (yep, loud bang and smoke) Antecs at one point in biggest finnish PC-forum.
(If you have to find good point it's that their protection worked and they didn't fried other components than themself)
Could be power was not "ok" as in the PS wasn't putting out the right voltages becuase the transmission lines were out of wack. There is a "Power OK" data channel on all powersupplies now days that check that data. If the power doesn't check out, then the system won't turn on.

I think only thing which iy should care is PS-ON signal, which is normally green wire in ATX connector.
You can start powersupply without PC "shortcutting" it to ground.
