All the Finns clap their hands against their temples at this point... 'xcept the ones with a good taste in music. ;)
I recently got a Jedi Academy playbuddy of mine from Israel(!) converted to a Lordi -fan, so I thought I'd provide the links here too. :) If you like good 80's rock'n roll and heavy metal with a good sense of twisted humour included, these guys are for you. :)
The group is an interesting one, they've been doing this monster -thing for the fun of it for 10 years or so, and about two years back they finally got a deal with a major label. They're far from Satanists or stuff like that, and just throw in some fun costumes and your basic good rock'n'roll with a monster horror attitude. :) If the costumes and attitude still put you off, the songs 'Devil Is A Loser' shows pretty well where they stand. ;) If you're interested, you can see three low quality music videos from the 'Extras' -section. Recommend looking through 'em, all the songs are good ones. :)
They've released 2 albums and the second is only been out for a few weeks in Germany if memory serves. If you like the music, I recommend checking them out, fun stuff. ;)
And if you watch the 'Blood Red Sandman' -video... Be sure to notice the clear homage to the Evil Dead by Sam Raimi. ;)

Well, I do listen to Lordi sometimes, but I'm not a huge fan.
...with a cornily named song Hard Rock Hallelujah. I think Blood Red Sandman was way better, but hey, rarely the best songs can enter the contest because the artists don't want to lose money by keeping the selected song hidden for almost a year (the songs must not be commercialized too early). And on the other hand, music hasn't really played a noticeable role in the contest since early 90's anyway...
Heehee, and now after 1½ years a Eurovision Song Contest participant! It's about time to send someone to seriously irritate half of the continent... :D

Music? And Eurovision in the same sentence? You must be kidding.. :)
I think most of the people that voted Lordi as our EV candidate did it simply out of the desire to see a group with some genuine balls in this contest. It most probably won't be a winning title, but it's guaranteed to be a more entertaining show than what the rest of the countries are about to put out.
I just hate this two-faced "We all love you and you all love us, let's hug and be friends all over the world" -crap that they're trying to market. A wonderful dream but no-one's buying it. Egh. Last year's competition was absolutely horrid. I watched the entire thing and on almost every song thought to myself: "What the **** is this crap"? 'xept for Vanilla Ninja's Cool Vibes. That was a good one. Should've won the shebang.
Lordi is going to give rest of the europe something to remember, I hope finland will be banned from competition permanently. No worries about who takes the last spot anymore.
Well, its gonna be fun to watch when these five grown up men steps on stage after half of dozen semi-nude croatian singers, not to mention their costumes and performance. I hope the special effects, like explosions will set up the whole place on fire, something like that almost happened few years ago. :)
And yes, Lordi usually doesn't perform without pyrotechnics, so there should be some fun to be expected.
The keyboard player is still a woman, by the way. ;)

Hmm, I had my suspicions.... One of those "monsters" actually looks like a female, but I never had the willingness to find out is it really so.
Nice to know anyways...
Strangely, the keyboard player was a woman before the recent line-up change and she's a woman still. :) I had my suspicions about the 'change' before, I thought that two members only wanted different kinds of masks. After hearing the latest radio interview a while back, mr. Putaansuu (Lordi himself) did state that they had an actual line-up change, so it wasn't just the masks. :)
The band is really strict about their image and they never give tv-interviews with their masks on
I was under the impression that they want to protect their true identity... so the correct choice of words would be "masks off".
Gamma Ray I've also tried with even a worse result. There's just something that doesn't go the distance.
Hammerfall... so far I think I've heard one good song, but that's about it. Don't even remember the title anymore, so a dead end so far there as well. I might still be interested in their music, but will have to see.
Now, but the kicker is that if you like Sonata Arctica you can't afford to miss out on Kamelot or Angra. Kamelot's "Black Halo" (2004) is still to date the single best long-play that I've discovered since the turn of the millennium. Also, Angra's latest "Temple Of Shadows) (also 2004) is very near to the top of my list as well. A 13-tracker digipack with an 18-track live DVD double disc edition in the single disc price-range. A very recommendable purchase if you can get your hands on it.
I actually *ahem* have promoted Angra a bit a while back by upping a song or two by them... if they're still there, I suggest you try them. As always, do what I do: If you like them, buy the record. :D
Angra - Wishing Well (slower tempo)
Angra - Waiting Silence (faster tempo)
Btw, Black Halo was released early last year, not 2004.
