93 is a good run, and he had Alzheimer's. At that point, death is simply the next step on the journey. This chapter is ended now, and his life speaks for itself.

    Re: Ronald Regan dies

Yep, let the history remember him as a man who did much better than posterior presidents of US.

OMG! How sad ~ and yet it was probably time. Alzheimer's disease is such a strain on the family and the person.

He was one of my heroes growing up. The world is a better place in no small way because of the actions of Ronald Reagan. People may not agree with all of his policies however, overall he was certainly one of the United State’s greatest presidents. He was the right man at the right time.

He will be missed, but his legacy lives on.

FYI...no bashing or unrespectful remarks about Reagan in this thread please. Please treat this thread the same way if someone you liked had died.

If you wish to discuss President Reagan's views on politics, etc. you are free to create a different thread on the subject.

    Thanks. :D

Great Actor... he shouldnt have given up his day job and entered politics....
  • He'd probably be more famous today if he had stayed an actor...

    i somehow doubt that.
  • Speaking as one that grew up during the eighties I very much doubt that....IMO he was the 2nd greatest president of the 20th century, behind FDR. The man had the stones to look the USSR straight in the eye and never back down.

RIP your wisdom and courage will be sorely missed.....:(

He also did more for jellybeans than any other world leader, i had a handfull yesterday in his honor..

Its odd, yesterday morning, i heard a report that said his health was failing, and i told my wife he'd be dead by midnite...

He really was a good Prez, I rank him in the top 10 all time.

Having grown up in the 70's and 80's, he's the first president i really remember.

Everyone, Have a handfull of jellybeans in his memory,
  • His type of inspriational optimism gave the country a sense that America could be a real source of good in the world. He made people proud of something that the previous decade had withered away. In times like these where many of us don't know what to believe in anymore, and the hard cold truth of our failures shine everyday in our face it would be great if a man with Reagan's ability to bring people together could somehow rise above the petty politics and make a difference.

Seeing as how this is also the aniversary of Dday, perhaps it is fitting we remember his speech at Omaha beach 20 years ago

For me it also signals a passing on of a certain part of my own life. Being 5 when Regan was elected, he's the first president I can specificly remember. The attempt on his life in 81 was really the first point I can recall actually understanding that there was this very important person called The President.

With his passing, I draw ever closer to the reality that those days of my life are now nothing but a memory. One the becomes more obscure with time...

I was criticizing America, not Reagan.
