Nightwish: Once

Pencil Artist
in Zocalo v2.0
Yes, once. One song. :D
Wish I Had An Angel
There you go, one promo track from the upcoming Nightwish album; Once.
Just promoting some good Finnish music here so no violations should be made here... the song actually has a portion where a male voice states:
"You are listening to the new Nightwish album, Once. And This track is called 'Wish I Had An Angel.'
Don't sue me, just promoting a good band. Like the music? Buy some of their albums. :)

Definitely not easy listening or something just to put on the background but rewarding stuff if you actually sit down and listen.
They're using... almost pompous new sounds. Like elements from old, theatrical movie scores and musical elements and influences almost straight from the opera. Bows and strings, choirs, both male and female, and the all-male background crew with their singing are now actually starting to sound like they're adding something to the songs, not just 'pasted-on' screaming to add that bad touch 'n finish to a nice piece. :) And a lot of influence from different cultures and their musical traditions. A very interesting mix... this really doesn't sound like the traditional Nightwish on most songs... but if this is their new sound... DAMN, I like it. :)
What cracks me up, the good way, is that there is a track named 'Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan' included. :) 'Death creates an artist'. An all-Finnish song. Good call. ;)
Out on June 7th in Finland if memory serves... great stuff.
I hope the other songs are somewhat different, because their previous albums were so great.
I can tell you that honestly, in my opinion, this is the best Nightwish album yet. Definitely the best. And I'm happy(?) to tell you that Wish I Had An Angel is the only song of that sort of beat and pace.
Just wait 'till you hear 'Ghost Love Score'. Huge sounds but in my books almost as good as 'Sleeping Sun' and 'Walking In The Air'.
The single is enought for me until the album is released. :)
Still two weeks to the album release show in Kitee.
C_Mon: It's "Angles Fall First"

Angles?
And E.T, that was a typo.
Btw it would be nice to have that album without , but I guess they've ruined that CD too. :(
Are you sure it's CD anymore?
Are you sure it's CD anymore?
That's the whole point.
Wish I Had An Angel is the only song of that sort of beat and pace.
that's good because that song sounds like crap to me. here's hoping for the rest of the album...
that's good because that song sounds like crap to me.
No, not crap, but Europo(o)p. ;)
Well you can't please everyone but... naah, I thought about posting some other song but that would go too far in my books even to promote the cd. Try the Nightwish -homepage where I gave a link in the first post, choose files and from there MP3. You can find 3 other minute long samples from the album. It's strange that in my books those 3 they have there are the worst songs from the album, except Nemo which is good.
Angles?
Angels I mean :D
I bet there's not copy protection on Once, because the almost everyone got really annoyd with the special edition of Century Child which was copyprotected, even the band members themselves. So they have talked about a Real CD without those stupid "protections"
This one has more than 6 songs out of 11 in the 'damn good' -caste for me. :)
1. Ghost Love Score (10 minute epic, the hairs on my back rise with this one.)
2. Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan. (Try to hack that, folks. Nice shot ;))
3. Creek Mary's Blood. (American Indians on this one)
4. Wish I Had An Angel (You seem to wish you hadn't. I do. ;))
5. Dead Gardens (Seem to hear some Turkish influence on this one as far as Tarja's sound goes. Nice waves. :))
6. Nemo (Slow, good song.)
That's the top 6 for me. But this one actually has only 1 song I _don't like_. Which is Romanticide. The rest is... just good.
Norwegian bands are a lot better to evolve. Suggest everyone to check out Ulver, earlier an excellent old school black metal band, now they are creating excellent electronic music.
Especially Ulver - Perdition City and f.ex the track Lost In Moments.
Looks like the homepage is down atm..
The same formula can be used to describe Amorphis.
:)
And I'm happy(?) to tell you that Wish I Had An Angel is the only song of that sort of beat and pace.
Good, because I like only first ten seconds of it.
Hey I really like them! I've never heard of them before. But I definitely need to hear at least 5 tracks before thinking of buying their cd. They remind me a little of Evanescense.
:)
It is more Evanescense that reminds about Nightwish, though they really do not have anything in common
Nightwish..In Flames....Stratovarius, was once good, but too commercially available for the big masses nowadays. In Flames still got some good...but anyway (and yes, I know they are swedish)
Let the big masses have fun listening to Spears, then those with a mind can listen to music made by good bands :)
Nightwish got many different sorts of tracks, because they got a broad audience to satisfy. I read on the Nightwish forum that someone accused Nightwish of having too much metal in their music and should go more towards mainstream music. And some don't like Marco and his singing voice, but I think he's awesome. And he also likes Babylon 5. :)
MD: If you want to listen more to Nightwish, then go and download their preview tracks from their website. You can find the tracks under "MP3" in the left navigation bar. :)
Know why the nightingale sings
Sacrament of Wilderness
Dead Boys Poem
Crownless
Ever Dream
as for Marcos voice.. it's not the best ;)
stratovarius was good with the older albums.. one of the most played mp3s here is their live version of "forever" :D
And some don't like Marco and his singing voice, but I think he's awesome. And he also likes Babylon 5. :)
Yeah, Marco states that his alltime favourite tv-program is Babylon 5. And he's very much into sci-fi, which you can sometimes read/hear from the lyrics he has written to his own band Tarot.
So if you like Marco's vocals you should check Tarot :)

Yeah, even oldest one's have couple very good songs.
I don't like Elements I at all, Elements II is way better but now the future of band seems to be unclear at best.
agreed though that their future looks.. strange (literally, when looking at miss k)
Played a few others of theirs and not so keen now. Didn't much like Nemo nor few others. Oh well...... :)
Bah! "Planet Hell" and "Devil and Deep Dark Ocean" r0x0r!!! And there are so many good tracks by Nightwish. Youbetter start listening to them now. :p
