    IIRC, NASA was trying to develop a "space tug" which would've been used to bring satellites to the Shuttle from higher/different orbits and return them when repairs/maintenance was complete.

    It's too bad no one had the foresight to try and develop something similar for the ISS, especially now that two Soyuz TM vehicles can be docked at the same time with the station. Once Hubble was brought into position near the ISS, a repair crew could be sent up to make the necessary repairs (they would have to use Manned Manuvering Units to reach Hubble, unless there were a fixture on the station to hold the satellite - which would be likely in this scenario) and the "tug" would return Hubble to its proper orbit. Oh well...
