Has anyone else seen this? I watched it yesterday, and it turned out to be quite entertaining and well written.

  • I saw that several years ago, and it was actually pretty good, if weird (Whiter Shade of Pale .). I believe there are several more books in the series that it is based upon, as well

Yeah, so I've heard. I haven't been able to track them down though. :(

It was here few yrs ago. Taped it, saw clips of it in the meantime then lost it, doh.

It was on here a few years ago as well, but I missed it then.
  • AlaricAlaric Damn kids! Get off my island!
    I bought the dvd's a while back.
its among my favourites. I didn't know that there were additional books tho'

I ordered the DVDs today (also chucked Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and The Princess Bride into that order :)).
After much hunting, I'm beginning to suspect the other books in the series were planned but never actually written.

One of my measures for an enjoyable film/program etc is the number/kind of quotable lines in it.

I'm still plucking up the courage to walk into a restaurant, sniff the air and say "I smell dog!" :D

I think it would have to be a place I didn't want to go back to.

Anyone else have a favourite quote? from anything?
  • WHYWHY Elite Ranger
I don't remember much about it other than I seemed to spend a lot of the time fawning over the girl...

This one certainly has more than the normal number.

"I am the greatest chef in the 9 kingdoms! People travel hundreds of miles just to eat my food!"
"Yeah, well my date's from another dimension so don't slip up."

And then there's the bit where the cuckoo clock gets put down for being late... :D

Not sure if I seen Princess Bride. Other 2 are great films. Also Krull, Legend and Neverending story(the first one only). I wish they would make films like this again.

Martian hasn't seen Princess Bride? Definately my shock for the day. Go do what A# said. Go now. Except don't eat your watch, that would be a big big waste. Especially considering what watch it is.

  • BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
    Yes! Go watch! NOW!

"I admit it, you are better than I am"
"Then why are you smiling?" etc.

Yes, an excellent, lighthearted, film for anyone who enjoys a good swash with their buckling.
I've only met one person who didn't enjoy it: my girlfriend :-(
  • PhiPhi <font color=#FF0000>C</font><font color=#FF9900>o</font><font color=#FFFF00>l</font><font color=#00F
I had a friend who didn't like Princess Bride because she didn't realize it was supposed to be funny and thought it cliche  I told her to read the book (which is even better), and she figured it out :D

Never seen Princess Bride myself. Never struck me as a film I'd like to watch. I saw Neverending Story in the cinema when it came out, was very cool! Labyrinth was great too, had a big crush on Jennifer Connolly back then (and she's still a babe!) Krull was cool aswell.

If you enjoyed those films you stand a good chance of liking TPB.
It's in the same genre (although at the start you wonder if you're watching the right film). It doesn't take itself seriously and all the characters are larger than life (especially Fezzik, no-one is more larger-than-life than him!) but you can still empathise with them.

Hmm, must stop now before looking too geeky.

    oops, too late.
  • TyvarTyvar Next best thing to a St. Bernard
I have a friend who dislike all those movies, but when she announced that she disliked TPB, the other girls revoked her "girl card".
  • BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
I should think so, for such blasphemy!

Then clearly, you need a new girlfriend.

Krull Rocks, Legend Rocks, Neverending story is a steaming pile of crap, I read the book YEARS before the movie came out, and i was so excited fo rthe movie, and i was So dissapointed at what a terrible job they did. I hope that someday someone remakes it and stays close to the book.
  • I watched TNES practically every day when I was a little kid... now all I remember is the flying dog thing, and some random clips that I can't even begin to describe...

    And weren't there two?
  • BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
I thought there were three. About all I can remember is the flying dog as well. :)
  • Stupid Kazaa can't find me a copy, and my local video rental doens't have anything but crappy comedies... :(
