Though the plains surrounding Opportunity's "Eagle Crater" landing site are relatively free of any hazards that would have hindered landing, the packaged rover managed to bounce down on one of the only rocks in the vicinity.
Or was it just Murphy?

    Oh the irony. :D

Irony's one of the most common elements on Mars, you know.

I guess if you're going to have the fluke of landing right in the ideal crater, you're going to get flukes like hitting the only rock for miles around as well. :D

Is it really called Murphy? I didn't even know there was another on landing on Mars!

Yes, there were 2 succesful landings (which have both since completed their missions and found evidence of past water on Mars) in Janurary and a failed one at the end of September. You really need to get out from under whatever rock you've been hiding under. :)

    Haven't you heard about Murphy's law? ;)

These rovers landed to completely different sides of Mars.
    They're called Spirit and Opportunity.

Of course I know about Spirit and Opportunity! I've already talked about these awhile back. :) Just that quote ET put confused me somewhat. Eg..

Sounded like it was a new landing with the bouncing and the packaging lol.
    :)
