Aliens and Babylon 5

I was watching 'Aliens' last night ( second movie in the series ) and when I saw SOLACO ( ship that carried Ripley and marines to planet where aliens were )I thought of Omega Destroyer or Nova Dreadnought. To me it seems that these two B5 ships were inspired by this 'Aliens' ship. Am I wrong or not?

    I think the Omega and Nova are a nice nod from JMS to more recent Science Fiction like Aliens.

    Keeper looks kind of like the face hugger.

    Also, when you think about it, you're basically screwed if you make physical contact with one unless you ARE an Alien or Drakh.

    The Omega owes much to the designs of Syd Meade, designer of both the SOLACO and the Leonov from 2010 (actually the design is really close to the Leonov repleat with an identical rotating section). The producers have at least copped to the fact that the Omega was in fact derivative of these two designs.

    While we are on this topic, Starcraft the game also has few connections to Aliens. Zergs look like Aliens but there are more subtle pointers.
    In Starcraft Terran Shuttle Transport had exactly the same voice and response to the female pilot in 'Aliens', especially phrases like 'five by five' ( I think) and 'we are getting into some choppy waters' ( or something like that ). That is why I always wondered why the Terran Shuttle in Starcraft sounded so familiar!
    Also Terrran unit Goliath in Starcraft sounds very much like Worf from the Star Trek.

    in b5 the zergs will be the GAIM if you remember well the GAIM are insects.

    mmmm starcraf was a good begining for a sci-fi film-tv serie.

    the movies of the game are still....fantastic!!!.

    one of the main problems of b5 is the lack of a good map [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/frown.gif[/img] (stellar map of course), to see the areas of each empire etc.....

    i was looking 2 weeks ago the 4ª season and it looks.....really well but..quite a few....ejem...speeded as if jms wanted somekind of fast end to the serie.

    (before i only saw some episodes like itf few battle and the general action ejem really excesive fast).

    in many ways the alternative novel of b5 offers to me more or a better story.

    and i prefer b4 to b5....its more powerfull [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img]DDDDDDDDDDDD and movile!!!.

    and for the aliens....one alternative area of dev for the series was and is still the aliens no doubt...."the voyages of franklyn" something like....
