Just remember that the backbone of the United States Navy is the venerable aircraft carrier. Without our large fleet of carriers, we would be unable to respond effectively throughout the world. A lot of times all it takes is one Aircraft Carrier Group to make a potential enemy rethink what they are about to do.

Since you listed an LCS link, look up the list of competing shipyards/companies in the running. About the 3rd link...It is a rather old article through - 1998, I believe.
