X² The Thread - Info

Just a short Info about X². I've chatted with some modders there to find out how X² is modable. They said you can add own ships (I think with 3dSMax, but I'm not sure right now), but currently there is no chance to make scenarios indepedent from the main game.
A advantage for this game is besides the superior graphics the control of big ships and the usage of multi monitors to easy change between the control of turrets and other ships. Just an example from the [url=http://www.egosoft.com/x/xmain.php?language=44&display=demo]X² Demo[/url]:

To control the fighter better you can make the monitor he is showed bigger.
PS: I played it with BumpMapping activated, Shadows disabled on my machine (Athlon1000,Rad9700,512MB) and it worked acceptable.

@Simon: As a Lightwave Veteran do you know how to handle with 3dsMax?
I stuck a few messages on the x2 boards and got one which could be promissing so i will be trying that today.
But not having much luck getting objects into the game so far but when i do then there will be no stopping me:D

But the Physiscs aren't the best ... you accelerate immediately in that direction you steer your Spacecraft.
But on the other hand its graphic is wonderful (and it's a very good economy simulation, but thats not so important for modding ;) ).

At the beginning I recommend to buy a Teladi Geier with Mining Equipment (you need around 350.000 credits for all devices and software) ... you can make good money with it.
When you have enough money, build a Solar generating plant at Argon Prime. This station is cheaper in that system (~50.000 less) than in Boron or Teladi sector.
Set the jump maximum at 1 (due to pirates and Khaak attacks on your transports), the price for cristals at Maximum and the selling price for Energy Cells at 19 Credits.
One TP (ie Argon Express) w/ engine upgrade for importing Crystals and two TS (ie Argon Merkur) with engine and hold upgrades for export.
I made good experiences with these settings.
I will be away tommorow for 3 weeks so i won't have much time for it.

Last time I played it was 1 week ago (I'm @home). The game needs really much time to play. As I didn't slept two nights b/c of X² I recognized that there should come more important things first. ;)
So I don't be think anymore that this is the best platform to create great battles. The Monitors are a good idea, but the dogfight itself is much too simple and after a while very boring. So the game doesn't fit for the requirements of difficult complex combats IMHO.
