as for the checkpoints, it is possible to do a quicksave using the ingame console anywhere in a level. the next patch will have a "save-anywhere" option built in.

Yeah, found the console command.

Otherwise good but I think I'm not able to use it.
Somehow this game doesn't register using ALT so it seems to be impossible to to get backslash character.

You need to hit ` to open the console first.
Do you think I'm using US keyboard?
Combination for console is shift and § with finnish keyboad layout. (that button is in same place than ` in US/ASCII keyboard)
Problem is just that Far Cry doesn't seem to register using ALT in. (we need to use it "like" shift to get backslash)
I guess I must try to change keyboard layout to US from XP's control panel and see will it work then. (always keep US/ASCII keyboard layoutmap next to you)
Those Gunships are really pain in the neck if you must go to open terrain.
Also nothing is more "fun" than notice inbound gunship coming to drop more troops and open fire with minigun when you just thought you had perfectly working plan for cleaning up camp. (Exception really proves the rule and destroys battle plan)
Also it's best to "hug" mother Earth whole time when going to somewhere which you haven't been able to scout with binoculars.
Otherwise it's easy to get "driven over" by Humvee.
Maybe I should test enemies with the most hardest settings?
(just thought that enemies might then act more smarter than most of mankind)

The 'Easy' setting is fairly realistic, in terms of intelligence, if you're comparing the enemy to your average person.

Propably true.
Although details on the upcoming console Far Cry game are still scarce...
Should have guessed.
But how are they going to cut memory requirements. (maybe game load new part of level after every tree? :D )
What console could handle this game? High details give even my machine fits! They'd have to trim out a lot of the eye candy to get it to work on a console, hmm?

Propably nearly 90 percent. (at least from textures) Same goes to size of levels.
LOL
One of the oldest clichees:
These dangerous creatures MUST be kept under so low security that they'll always get away.
actually, the AI doesn't ever really get inhuman, except for their hearing. Aim, movement, etc basically matches a well trained merc.
and the fraking trigens...much as I hate to admit, I'm having to use god mode through the corridor section...insane! takes 50 bullets to kill two, and the third frags you while you reload!
other then that..AMAZING. 1280x864 MAX settings, full aniscoptric filtering and full AA, still about 25FPS. :D

I'm terrible about stealth... if I can't sneak by everyone, I have to kill them all. I usually use that high-tech rifle that has a 4x zoom, fire an entire clip into it's face, then whip out a P90 if it doesn't die. The sniper and rocket launcher are practically useless versus Trigens, so I stick with P90, MP5, zoom rifle, and Shotgun.

Ten shots from M4 is enough if you target to head with bursts. That just requires lot of space between.
Pancor Jackhammer does the job with two shots. (much better for close encounter)
A#, this works in 1.1:

Something I just noticed... with the AG36 assault (the "zoom rifle" :D) and AW50 sniper rifles, the scope will show a slightly distorted copy of what you're looking at when not in use... fvcking sweet!
A#, out of curiosity, what are the specs on your PC?

That happens with any weapon with a scope, including the rocket launcher.
These inside levels would really have need for SG-1 style belt-feeded automatic shotgun.
That's because when you see Trigen it's better start shooting immediately, (to avoid need of reloading game) which have tendency to empty clip fast when you don't have time for reload.
Also shotgun is effective close range weapon against those mercs wrapped to kevlar. ("one shot per head", literally)
Inside levels are the best parts of the game... the early outdoor levels were fun, and I was a bit dissapointed when they became fewer and further between, but Trigen battles are much more fun indoors.
you talkin about the ape-ish leaping ones? if I have the element of surprise, three rounds with the M4, single shot. if there's more than one, M4 on burst, about two three round bursts (if in burst, keep your bursts below four rounds, or your accuracy goes all to hell)
Those mercs have nice logic.
They'll still prefer shooting player even when there's wave of Trigens coming from behind them.
Well, I guess that's just this so called "prioritizing".:D

What difficulty level you're using? (easy?)
Because at medium it seems to take about ten shots from M4. (short burst targeted to "upper torso" and head)

Still damned silly to have to go that route.
Edited to correct a typo

Yes, I know. Just pointing out that it's not a feature of only the two weapons you mentioned.
That's because when you see Trigen it's better start shooting immediately, (to avoid need of reloading game) which have tendency to empty clip fast when you don't have time for reload.
Also shotgun is effective close range weapon against those mercs wrapped to kevlar. ("one shot per head", literally)
After that insides become really opressing.
MP5: 15 bullets each, normally three at once = dead while reloading
Shotgun is useless at range...
RL no good indoors...
gah. *Turns back on godmode*
They'll still prefer shooting player even when there's wave of Trigens coming from behind them.
