by the looks of it we just need torso and arm units, some armour, and a large, large gun... my guess is probably a 7.62 Nato Machine gun and probably a 20mm gas relieved cannon, maybe a smoke launcher, a single shot anti-tank weapon and of course the comms/EW package.
I'll be these things will soon come in at around the 250 kilo mark.
Only problem is until armour catches up, these things aren't going to win any wars. A decent high powered rifle and g'bye grunt.
I can see these things being backfield and medic type donkeys for moving materiel etc, but not on the front line. Theres a long way to go in terms of protection for the jockey and vast improvements in agility.
both scary and exciting
then theres also the industrial versions, power-exo plus spacesuit = fucking cool.
not to mention a diving exo...
Anyway. This is great! Aliens and Matrix (and more) here we come!
Still, neat idea :)
[B]heh, bring it on,

Like this: http://www.me.berkeley.edu/hel/hydextender.htm
(Or http://www.me.berkeley.edu/hel/extarms.htm)
After that there's only little left to world of Heavy Gear games.
I think that in fire support these could also work pretty well.
Also one application could be in air defence where man with exoskeleton could carry more than one stinger. (best option would be to develop more heavier missile with longer range and larger warhead)

Heavy Gear 2 comes to my mind.
Your're safe from machineguns but just wait when someone shoots you with bazooka or AT-missile. :D
I think this would be pretty good at destroying exoskeletons which wouldn't be very heavily armored.

Yeah, like in Aliens.
Well, there's nothing that could prevent making exoskeleton's arms same kind like human when technology advances.
With these it should be possible to easily move objects weighting hundreds kilograms, it's just matter how heavy exoskeletons are allowed to grow.
