    you do realize that XP's code is some 60-80% either directly copied from 2000, or modified in a small way. :D

    This would actually be reason #50907432 to switch to a Mac or Linux or BSD, not to just go to another MS OS. :)

    Why is the source code leak a reason to upgrade? If anything, it will force Microsoft to work harder at updating Win 2k and plugging security holes.

    It's either that, or MS will be forced to admit that their system is full of holes and in essence, sucks. And that they're not going to do anything about it.

    They'll probably bring out "Windows XP 04," claiming it to be "completely secure" against anything possibly directed against this source because "those parts were written from scratch." This wonderful new OS will be on the market in a couple of months, and everyone will be required to upgrade to it (at full price, of course) or lose their support.
