That said, I could see myself really coming to like the game once I get used to the overall frantic pace. The vehicles are pretty neat, and each one has their own purpose and weakness. It's pretty fun going around and stomping on people in the hovercraft, and those little bladed arms on the jeep thing are just way too cool (I got a good chuckle when I tried using those arms to attack a vehicle, too...).
hovercraft, good for speed, not much else (Need to practice)
jeep...muahaha!!
Flying thingy...fun, though I need to use it a bit more. :D
--------------
Assault:
Man, brought me back to the original in a VERY good way, I LOVE it! :) (Hard sometimes...those minigun turrets...yikes!
--------------
Deathmatch:
Only the changes to movement and weapons apply here, and I LOVE them. I'm actually using the link gun, making combos left and right, using the goop...new announcer/sounds (MINIGUN!!!) everything, just feels better!
-------------
Capture the Flag:
no real changes here, but the bots are ALOT smater then before, and I'm loving it!
*Has yet to try bombing run*

It's probably also the best vehicle for running people over with. I've found that people tend to get out of the way of the jeep pretty easily, but that hovercraft can splatter em good before they notice you're coming. The main thing to watch out for is the Raptors (flying things). Their missiles home in on Mantas automatically.
Those jeeps work great in an anti-tank role, too. A fully charged shot from the gun can really do some serious damage to an enemy tank.
And yeah, Assault was the best mode in the original. :)
And the sniper rifle... I remember sitting on top of my own flag fort for hours in MP, blowing people's heads off as they tried to blow me up... that thing was so unbalanced. :D
vehicles...are, well...mix between BF42 and Halo...it's a VERY happy medium!
The rest of the vehicles... are about average. To tell you the truth, I would've preferred one end of the spectrum, either BF1942 or Halo.
just had a blast of onslaught online and it was well balanced, the center node was fought for pretty hard. vehicle wise im probably the manta (c)rusher (more hanging back, supporting, repairing)
tdm and dm plays like before, purest slaughter and tons of fun. since i play too much ctf in another game i wont play that much in ut2k4 :)
sticky nades.. LOVE THEM!! up on the hill stick nades on enemies below and then detonate :D
the full game is currently at 5.5gb of content, i expect every megabyte to be as good as the demo (for those that do not know, there will be a special edition of ut2k4 that will contain video lessons on how to build levels and such... check the loooong list)
And this Special Edition... whazzit gonna cost? The only editor I ever did figure out how to use was the Quake III editor, for JKII (which had about zero multiplay).
[B]Hehe, yeah, sticky nades are fun. Obvious Halo inspiration in many of the new features.

The special edition is going to come on 2 DVDs, as opposed to the regular ed's 6 CDs. It will also come with a logitech headset for the voice communication stuff.
Last price I heard was going to be around $60, but I have heard of places offering it for the same price as the regular version ($40).
plus the headset. :D
You modding, mate?

I really want the "alive" vehicles to fly around a bit more...like but 8 det packs under one and fly it to the moon kinda high. :D

Ehehehehehehehehe. I also had quite a bit of fun destroying anything that left the enemy base from their own lightning gun platform.

I just spent some time doing that, and also added another little twist to that strategy...
Place spider mines all around the teleport spot on top of the tower. As soon as anybody teleports up there, they get swarmed by all the mines and killed almost instantly. Too bad you have to go all the way back to the middle of the map to restock, though.
I still need to get the hang of the timing on using the shield gun to break a fall, too. I can get it right about half the time, but the other half I end up splattered.
