Sick...

*Sigh* I never knew inhaling something could cause one to get sick....

My room is three rooms away from the nearest telephone jack to the dedicated telephone line. I've had the wire running along the walls, but with my grandmother visiting, decided it was better to run it under the house.

So, crawling around under the house, just alot of dust and insalation....and about 30 minutes later, my throught was soar....next morning I'm sick, massive headach, soar through, achy, etc etc.

Managed to attend school, as I had assignments to turn in and a quiz to take. Prolly made a C on that, but better then a 0%....

I don't know what it was that I inhaled...but next time, I'm wearing a mask. I missed out on a trip to St. Augustine because of this. :(

I'd be willing to be you kicked up some mold or something and breathed it in. That can get you good and sick.

That was my first thought as well. I agree with Freejack though, it was probably some mould or something like that.

i would really doubt it was asbestos. most likely mold
  • I'm fairly certain it was mold or something, we did have rats under there a couple years ago though... (I really doubt it could have been asbestoes, it was a concrete block fountation, wood above, dirt below.

gah...I just hope I'm better by tomorrow, I have class again tomorrow, and I've never missed a day of class yet...(Not to mention, I need notes. LOL)

I got a bad case of lung infection from mold once. Turns out it was the mold on the old Swamp Cooler pads... It's serious biz...

    Take better precautions next time.

the good news is, any mould you inhaled will only make you very sick for a few days,

the bad news is that for the next 6 years you will bleed profusely from the eyes and anus.

And no, i'm not a Doctor, but i play one on IRC..
  • hmm...maybe that explains the nosebleeds...eyes, nose...close enough! :D

    Yep.
Symptoms should disappear pretty fast after exposure ends.

But repeated/long time exposure for it can cause astma, allergy and others so if anyone is in that kind of job where he is exposed to mold, you better use protective gear.
  • aside from a feaver, matching achs, and an insane nasal drip, I think I'm all better.

    :D :D

odd thing is, Any time dad has had to go under the house, he never got sick....

get seen by a doctor mate...

I'd also make sure that youre house hasn't been treated for termites...

...they do that by spraying so truly noxious chemicals on the ground around the footings.

Some of them are very long term residual poisons. I shudder to think of what the consequences may be if you've injested some.

check it out... you may have to go onto some tablets which will help clear out those toxins if you have indeed been poisoned.
  • I may have to see a dactor anyway....I noticed a white spot on one of my tonsils now...

    gah. WHEN WILL IT END?!?

Hope your 100% soon! You may be more reactive to things like that. But your dad should be more careful too even if he doesn't react! Tell him to wear a mask. I'm sensitive to moulds or a damp house, get sore throats.

Can fibre glass have same effect? I know it can make you itchy.

    :)

At least fine fibreglass dust could cause it.

Even if it isn't poisonous like asbest any dust with enough small particles which can go to lungs can cause some symptoms. (well, of course amount of exposure affects also)

You've never heard of airborne contagions? That's how a lot of illnesses are spread.
