BSG apparently picked up
RubberEagle
What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
in Zocalo v2.0
According to some reports i've read today, SciFi has indeed picked up Battlestar Galactica. Though the first season will only have 13 episodes.

also, the options for the actors would run out the end of this month....
What i (of course) forgot to write: no official word yet, but i read on another forum that the actor who played the chief technician said that they got the word yesterday, and noone seemed to doubt the person who said he was contacted by him (i think he's a webmaster of a fansite or sthg), so i think it's pretty authentic.

Well there goes another series before it even starts...

Indeed. :)
The new BG is not quite Grand Heresy. This means the people responsible for it should not be burned at stake, impaling will be good enough.
....
Now i've just checked the thread i posted above, and the thing about the Union giving problems seems to have been bullshit, at least according to someone who's a unionist.
Also, here it seems that indeed that the only reason why there hasn't been an official word on scifi.com yet is that it's weekend now...
well.. not getting my hopes too high up yet, but let's see what the next week brings....
also, galactica2003.net has news from Apollo's actor and multiple others, all saying that their options have been picked up, and that the details of how many episodes and when they will be shot will be hammered out next week, but that the series is a definite go.
then again..

That thread was started by a Troll (Dragon).
Word is, it's still a "go," the i's and t's of the deal are just being dotted and crossed, respectively before SciFi makes the big announcement.
Frankly, they'd have to be retarded to not pick it up, given the fact that it was their biggest ratings grabber of the entire 2003 callendar year. The second half of the premere (apparently) had better ratings than the first, indicating that more people seemed to latch onto it.
Personally, I think it's a good thing. I liked the acting, the effects, the new models, and the viper physics. They seemed to hit the road with wheels spinning on posi-trac(tm), so it will probably do well.
First season contract is for 13 episodes (unconfirmed, but reliable sources).

PS: For the record, Bonnie is amazingly cool; a few of her staffers and I talked a bit about promotional ideas back when we were trying to transfer ITF to a new publisher. I really wish that had worked out. There were some great ideas on the table.
(No, my BSG information didn't come from her. I haven't spoken with her or the SciFi staff for, wow...3 years now.)
